This has probably been done to death on another thread but what are peoples big antepost price fancies for the 2007 National? I quite like the look of KELAMI @ 160's, OSMOSSIS @ 90's and at a slightly smaller price BEWLEYS BERRY @ 40's.
I know i have my Coolnahilla quote on my posts but the only thing at the moment you should be looking for is the horses rating for which it needs to be about 130-140(tops) because this would be the horses that get in with about 10st 2lbs-10st 12lbs. There is no point in having an AP bet on a horse which is rated 115 because it would need to win at least 2 races before the National & the same would apply the other way a horse of 150 is going to have plenty of weight unless a very high rated horse stays in _________________ Forest are Treemendous

Don't forget that Hedgehunter will almost definitely run, no matter what weight he has and he will have a high rating after last years Gold Cup exploits. This means that horses with high ratings will have reasonable weights to carry, and that a few are likely to have to race from out of the handicap in 2007.
I am currently on Ossmoses and Far From Trouble, at 100 and 24 respectively on betfair.
OWl o M agreed this is why Handicap AP betting should be minimum stakes only especially for a race like the National because you need to see the weights and who is likely to run etc _________________ Forest are Treemendous
A horse of Peter Bowen's called MCKELVEY for me. Won the Summer National in June so will comfortably stay and is currently rated 137 so should get in at the bottom of the handicap.
He went to the Becher just for the experience as the trip was far too short for him but he jumped well and was doing his best work at the end of the race staying onto be 6th. Although Ballycassidy should also make the field I would envisage McKelvey being the Bowen number one and therefore likely to have O'Brien on board (Maguire is Bally's jockey anyway.)
McKelvey's target is the National and I've had a bit e/w at 50's _________________ 2008 Ryder Cup Competition - WINNER

Not sure when this horses birthday is, could it be 8 next year? But have many 7 year olds won the National?

He'll be an 8 year old in the 2007 National and that would be a slight negative in that 8 year olds have won the race but nowhere near as prolific as 9-11yr olds. 7 year olds have a worse record in the race and whereas I'm sure no 6 year old has won it, I think a few 7 year olds have but I'm not sure. _________________ 2008 Ryder Cup Competition - WINNER

nothing stupid about backing a horse at 100+/1 on betfair for a race four months in advance and having it go off much shorter.
for the sake of afew quid, theres a thread in the cheltenham section on ante-post portfolios for cheltenham which isn't till march. Of corse its a serious betting proposition! _________________ 2009 BCT Winner - Conduit
