Bad news.

Honda have folded due to the recession. The Japs are protecting their main interests.

I'm a bit lost here, why have Honda folded due to the recession?

Honda have pulled out of F1 as the economic circumstances are such that they can't justify running a team anymore!

I don't think they'll be the only F1 team to fall victim to the economic downturn. It's very worrying and the FIA are putting in a lot of new cost cutting rules that a couple of years ago would be considered OTT but now is considered 100% necesary

Anyone seen the new F1 car design? Crap.

Much higher/narrower tail fin. All slick tyres. Narrower chassis.

You may say that I would say this but you're not going to get many better 6/4 shots than Ferrari to win the Constructors Championship. McLaren are too focused on Hamilton and nobody else really stands a chance!

I wish they'd just get on and just cease to operate. F1 has not been real car racing in over a decade.

I still can't believe Hamilton is still favourite this year. The Mclaren is obviously rubbish, slowest in Barcelona and even they have admitted it.

Do yourselves a favour this year - LAY Hamilton now. After 3 races in midfield he'll drift to 10-1; back him later and guarantee yourself a profit. I think he's a great driver, but he can't make a dog drive well and finishing in the points in the first 3 races will be a result.

Re positive betting; you could do worse than a couple of quid on Button for the championship. The Brawn GP car looks very good (ok, they're trying for sponsorship) but it's still extraordinarily fast and reliable in testing. Best part of 20-1 (Bfair) is a great A/post bet. Their form, if confirmed, will quickly contract these odds.

All the best, PT.

Once again the Brawn GP car looks very positive in testing and BMW and Ferrari are already saying that it's going to be the main rival this season.

Today Alonso only just shaded it to finish quickest in a car that has seen 1000's of miles more development. Jenson is still 13-1 (still value cf Hamilton) on betfair and Barichello is a, frankly insulting, 24-1 shot. They will be much shorter odds after a few races and, despite being quickest, also have the most potential for improvement, having had fewer iterations of testing.

The Mclaren is still 1 second slower than the Brawn despite all of their testing work.

Bernie has put the kalabash on team tactics towards the end of the season.

The driver that wins the most races, not the most points, wins the championship.

This could spice things up a bit.

Having reflected on that for a moment, it will probably destroy a few careers.

And create a spectacular crash at the end letting someone else in.

Can't wait.

Bernie haqs officially lost the plot. Even though if they had this system in last year the rightful champion, Felipe Massa and not Lewis Glock(sorry Hamilton) would be champion, I'm 100% against this. It will make the sport the laughing stock of the motorsports world(if it isn't already) people are already turning away in their droves and converting to ghastly things such as Moto GP or IRL(or even, dare I say it, A1 GP) and this is just going to make the wave a tsunami. What other sport in the world is the Championship decided in a completely different manner to every other position? It's farcical

Can't get my head around it either.

Ultimate power corrupts ultimately. (best I could come up with)

His (Bernie's) wife saw it coming - has she left him?

Sadly, I suspect nobody else wants the F1 supremo job.

And even if they did it looks like the little runt has a stranglehold on it.

It's a blooming shambles and it hasn't even started yet!

Quote:
Formula 1 has axed plans for a new scoring system in 2009 just nine days before the start of the season.

The sport's governing body, FIA, announced earlier this week that the driver with the most wins would be crowned world champion.

But following a protest from F1 teams, FIA says it will defer the introduction of the new system until 2010.

The traditional points system will be used when the 2009 season begins on 29 March with the Australian Grand Prix.

A FIA spokesman told BBC Sport: "The new scoring system has been deferred until 2010, but I'm sure this will be reviewed throughout the course of the season as any new rule changes have to have teams approval before we proceed.

"We're slightly surprised that the teams have taken this long to come forward as we were under the impression that they were happy with the rule changes."

FIA had argued that the new scoring system would make racing more exciting by encouraging drivers to chase wins.

But several drivers, among them defending champion Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, criticised the change.
