Evening all,
Im after some advice please.
a mate is getting married in August and im helping to look into possible stag venues.
One of the things that we've decided to do is to either go horse or dog racing.
Can anyone reccomend somewhere for a bit of fun on a friday or saturday night, preferably in a town/city with decent nightlife?
Someone has suggested Nottingham but Im not really up on the dogs so thought I'd ask some people in the know.
You are asking two different questions rally. What is the nightlife like, and what is the dog racing like. Much depends on which town or city is closest to you, but the main factor is where does dog racing take place on a Friday. Since you are thinking of August, you could also consider an evening horserace meeting. Its a shame Walthamstow closed as they had both dogs and a nightclub under the one roof.
Most greyhound tracks race on the same night each week. For example Hove is Tuesdays Thurdays and Saturdays. Check the racing post next Friday, see if there is a town you could get to, then you should be able to get a clearer idea. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you
Nottingham have a meeting every Friday night, racing starts around 6:30pm and finishes around 10:30pm. The track is about 3 miles (£6 Taxi) from the city centre.
We are travelling from the westest of west wales so its a hell of a treck anywhere we go! i'd imagine we will end up somewhere like liverpool, nottingham, manchester, london etc.
Alan - i'm trying to persuade the boys to go to the horses instead as Haydock stage a friday night card[ladies night] and a saturday afternoon [i think its the group 1 sprint card]and ascot also has racing on the saturday pm, but thats shergar cup day.
A few years back we went to nottingham on a stag and went to the horses on the friday night, which was decent.
