Having had some success recently with this approach, I've had a quick look at the William Hill All England Cup currently being held at Newcastle. The 1st round was run last Thursday, with the semi-finals taking place this week and the final live on Sky next week.

The semi final draw along with the associated analysis based on the 1st round is shown below

Trap Dog               Start Time   Adj1  Adj2   Calc   Rank Odds
1    Centurian Rus     4.73  29.82  -0.5  +0.00  29.32  18   50/1
2    Lochbo Meg        4.65  29.42  -0.4  +0.00  29.02  14   8/1
3    Magna Dave        4.59  29.43  -0.4  -0.15  28.88  11   25/1
4    Coolavanny Smoke  4.78  29.49  -0.4  -0.30  28.79  06   50/1
5    Coolavanny Dart   4.69  29.47  -0.4  +0.00  29.07  16   66/1
6    Eye on the Pulse  4.73  29.28  -0.4  +0.00  28.88  11   33/1

1    Affleck Elite     4.69  29.32  -0.4  -0.20  28.72  04   25/1
2    Mottos Star       4.79  29.60  -0.4  -0.15  29.05  15   20/1
3    Eye on the Brave  4.58  29.05  -0.4  +0.00  28.65  03   16/1
4    Centaur Decree    4.70  29.80  -0.5  +0.00  29.30  17   N/A
5    Dotland Hit Man   4.80  29.44  -0.4  -0.20  28.84  08   6/1
6    Toosey Blue       4.74  29.40  -0.4  -0.15  28.85  09   14/1

1    Mako Magic        4.75  29.33  -0.4  +0.00  28.93  13   33/1
2    Crown River       4.73  29.23  -0.4  -0.20  28.63  02   8/1
3    Boherna Best      4.54  29.01  -0.4  +0.00  28.61  01   9/4
4    Roswell Startrek  4.60  29.19  -0.4  +0.00  28.79  07   16/1
5    Pearly Queen      4.79  29.68  -0.5  -0.30  28.88  10   50/1
6    Droops Carvalho   4.77  29.32  -0.4  -0.15  28.77  05   16/1

Boherna Best is the highest ranked runner and is a worthy favourite, his prominence near the head of next years Derby betting illustrates how highly rated he is. However he is only 0.02 seconds ahead of the 2nd ranked dog and so his odds of 9/4 are too short for me. He is undoubtedly in great form, but he is drawn in the fastest semi (4 of the 7 top ranked greyhounds) with the progressive Crown River and Droopys Carvalho and so for these reasons I've looked elsewhere.

Eye on the Brave runs in semi 2, and if all goes to plan he should be in the clear by the 1st bend. He has a good draw with wide runners on his outer and comes here after a good win at Coventry (following a run of fairly mediocre form). The conditions (-40) undoutedly suited the front runners last week, but he can be backed at odds of 16/1 (1/4 1,2,3) with most firms, but it may be safer to take the 14/1 (1/4 1,2,3,4) on offer with Boylesports.

I'm also going to have a small e/w bet on Coolavanny Smoke who runs in the 1st semi. On my figures, he is 1.5 lengths ahead of anything else in that heat. Conditions were against him in the opening round and he has previous winning form at the track. Should he qualify for the final, with Boylesports going 50/1 (1/4 1,2,3,4) there is a good chance of a return.

I'm hoping to do this more regularly now and so in the tradition of other posts, I'll start with a bank of 100 points

This weeks recommendations
Eye on the Brave 3 pts e/w (1,2,3,4) @ 14/1 with Boylesports
Coolavanny Smoke 1 pt  e/w (1,2,3,4) @ 50/1 with Boylesports

Certainly is better than that WMH who seems to be on the missing list

Seriously though, this is a new angle that would play well with the guys on here I reckon   Definitely deserving of a wider audience.

just a note

Coolavanny Smoke is available to back at 12/1 in heat 1 of the All England Cup tonight and Eye onthe Brave available at 9/2 in heat 2. Based on their performances in round 1, both these look generous, especially Eye onthe Brave - with that heat now a 5 runner event (T4 vacant)

cheers
Mikey

Good call on the 7.58 2nd   (backed ew at 10s, slow boats don't catch the 12/1 worm   )

A quick update on the All England Cup at Newcastle, the final of which is being shown live on Sky this Wednesday.

Both the selected dogs - Eye onthe Brave and Coolavanny Smoke managed to make the final, so I'm very pleased with that. However, if I'm being honest, the trophy will probably be won by either Boherna Best or Dotland Hitman.

Both selections were backed e/w terms for 1,2,3 & 4, so I'm hopeful of at least some return.

Good luck with your selections Mikey, I am yet to make my mind up...

One thing I like about greyhound competitions is that they can brighten up the midweek

Hi all - a final update on last night's ALL England Cup Final. The top ranked dog after the 1st round Boherna Best , again went on to win the competition.

Very disapointed that Coolavanny Smoke was withdrawn injured yesterday morning as I thought he had a great chance of making the top 4. However Eye onthe Brave finished 3rd and therefore we finished in profit. He completely missed the break and there after was never going to get on terms with the 2 market leaders.

Results
Eye onthe Brave  3pts e/w @ 14/1 = +7.5
Coolavanny Smoke 1pt e/w @ 50/1 = -2.0

Net Profit = 5.5 pts
