I don't go on the Racing Forum on the BBC very much anymore as there are too many idiots on it and most of the people I respect on it come on here anyway(three notable oacceptions of David UK, Outindubai and Pawnbroker. Anybody know how these three gentleman are doing and why they don't come on here?).

However, I do regulary visit the(normally) idiot free zone of Radio 2's country music board. Have a look at this thread

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio2/F2142832?thread=3380840

As you will see, SpeedracerX is new to the board and was helping out another board member. He then got modded for commiting this heinous crime. Admittedly his message got put back up but what the hell were the mods up to? I can half understand it on the racing board as there are so many muppets on there that it needs to be heavily modded(but even then they mod the wrong people) but this is the country board where we are all friendly to each other.

Do the BBC not want people to use their messageboards? If that is the case why have them?

If you do not like the BBc
Take a visit to see Skanky
Its rich with knowledge and life
And moderation is'nt as necessary or rife
It's all to do with consideration and respect
Humour wit and intellect
People like Zebra can stay there and bore em
We like it so much on Skankys Forum
There is always something novel and new
And no nine o' clock curfew

Nice one Quizman. Saw a posting the other day by the stripey one in response to a reply from Jancyzk (knowledgeable and witty - wish he posted over here) that seemed completely illogical even by his standards.

You would wonder about the psychological well being of some of the
protagionists alright.

Pawnbroker still posts regularly on the BBC - i think he posted today about laying the top two in the betting because they had penalties to carry and both duly lost!! Wish i had seen the post before the race!!

Hi Jimbob,

I don't go on there that much anymore either but whenever I do I see that Pawnbroker is posting a lot still, not too sure about David UK and Outindubai though.

Maybe they can't access this forum at work?

I used to visit the BBC racing forum last Winter as I follow NH rather than flat racing and it degenerated into a childish unmoderated shambles. The quality of the posts declined and too many posters were WUM - I won't be going back this Winter.

I too pop over to the Beeb from time to time, just to amuse myself.....however, there are several people on there who do put up good posts: Pawnbroker, Simon and a couple of others. The rest are dross. David_UK and Just_So (the vet) have disappeared completely. Pity!

Don't know that it'll get any better come NH time (although schools will be back). I simply get fed up with people posting so-called MONSTER tips with no reasoning, no background and no humour. Guess they just read them in the papers.....

Hi Awaywardlad

I understand where you are coming from completely. When the board started the biggest WUM's we had to deal with were BobW(who posts on here) and a chap called Liam who got banned for saying some rather inapropriate things about Martin Pipe. These two had a bit of a rivalry going on but it was friendly banter and quite entertaining to read at times.

My allegiance is with the flat but I have learnt a great deal about National Hunt Racing since going on the BBC Forum and love it almost as much as I love the flat now.

Sadly it started to get worse about a year and a half ago and has never really recovered

Banter is fine and hopefully amusing for us all. It's when it subsides into mindless insults and poorly/unreasoned posts that it becomes pointless.

A good example to my mind is the infamous Barney C who when he put his mind to it was knowledgeable and informative BUT seemed to get more pleasure from being a WUM so 90% of his posts were worthless and it was not worth the time to scroll through the dross to find the gems.

I didn't mind Barney at first to be honest, then he started getting a bit too personal, and started posting tips, then slagging everyone off afterwards for backing them when they were beaten - very childish.
