I know its a bit late to ask, but can you actually see anything in this area?

Are there any big screens and stuff, or will I have to go to a bar and just watch it on the telly anyway?

Its the best stand in my opinion. There's a big screen right infront of you and you have the finishing line to your left.

Amen to that. Great view of the whole course. Shall be there on Thursday!

It is brilliant in there.
Less crowds at the bars, perfect viewing of the course, access to two big screens (best one right in front of you on the viewing stand).
Only disadvantage as far as I am concerned is no access to the parade ring but most of my bets are placed well before the parade ring shenanigans are under way.
What days are you going on?

Today and tomorrow in the Best Mate......usually go in the Tatts, but decided to go two days instead of one this year.

The atmosphere on course today was not as I have known it in the past. The whole place seemed a bit deflated.

well i think mucking about with a winning formula is a bad idea

too many so-so races, the champ hurdle should be third race, and i would still go for a 3 day meeting, end with the bumper and the coral cup to end day 2

3 days would be sold out

4 days hasnt been ever

I was amazed at the lack of people around when the first race was starting.....the number of non-racing people always winds me up though. Every year, I forget how annoying the stag and hen do-type people are.

Should have been at my place. The atmosphere was insane and the only thing that deflated was my swiss ball after I gave it an incredibly hard ride in the Champion.

When I was last in the Best Mate (year Kicking King won) I didn't really enjoy the atmosphere. You need to be near the horses and their connections to feel it. But then I never enjoy the atmosphere at the Festival that much - I get fed up with the people who just go to drink and bet and never see a horse.

Normally in Tatts, had to settle for the BM today due to only deciding to go the other day, and planned to get a tatts ticket off a tout. Couldn't, had to get BM.

Hated it.

Full of chavs, idiots, literal know-nothings, no atmosphere at all, you just aren't a part of the festival stuck over the side.

Give me tatts for an extra tenner any day.

All these people must have gone on the Tuesday beacuase I never saw any yesterday.
As for the "literal know-nothings" there is probably more over in the grandstand because a much higher % are just there for the social occasion and although you get the social Best Mate people they are generally people who bet and do know at least something about racing.
