I was wondering who everyone thinks is the best online bookies, based on free bets and odds offered. I am with skybet an betfair but am looking to open a new account.

Many thanks

To me there is no reason why people should not have an account with all the online bookmakers as you are more likely to be able to always get best price be it horses or any other sport.
It does not cost anything to have an account so why not.

Paddy Power are probably the best for what you are looking for on offers etc

I have a/c's with all of them, but I'd say that if you had Paddy Power, Bet365 and Skybet you'd have most angles covered. And maybe Betfred if you do Lucky 15's (they do treble odds one winner)

I think the important aspect is to cover yourself with as many accounts as you can - you will enjoy free bets with all for opening your account.

What sways my decisions on where to place a bet is simply down to price - number of places they pay out on (If I back EW) and guaranteed best prices.

The guaranteed best price bookies (ON every race) are Bet 365 Paddy Power Stan James , William Hill , VC Bet

and in my experience paddy power like to talk about laying bets at standout prices a lot more than they actually like to do it. big marketing department, but won't lay the prices they shout about.

Agree about Sportingbet. I'm quite a fan of Paddy Power (although I'm not fond of their marketing style!), but I bet in such small amounts that the point made by accajacca is really irrelevant to me.

I mainly use PP, Bet365 and Betfair, although I have accounts also with Victor Chandler, William Hill (telephone credit) and Totesport. The one thing I dislike about Betfair is its minimum £2 bet - I quite like sticking £1 on something silly just for a laugh!

Have so far steered clear of Ladbrokes, Coral and Betfred. Don't know anything about Betdaq, the other exchange operation.

For multiples such as L15s and so on, Paddy Power and Bet365 are both good, and Betfred for enhanced odds.

To be honest, I don't really have the time (or the inclination) to search about all the time for the best odds/deals - but they are there if you want to put in the effort. One website (I think it's Oddschecker) has a list of all the free-bet offers currently available, which is useful, although most of them involve matching the free bet amount.

For ease of use, both Paddy Power and Bet365 sites are as user friendly as it is possible to be given the complexity. The Totesport site is slow and clumsy. Betfair is of course "different" but I soon got used to it, and one of the things I like is that it offers place-only bets (I think one or two of the other bookies do so as well, but not many).

I think best price guaranteed is a great asset to a punter and only tend to use these + ,of course, the exchanges.

Jen , have you ever thought about backing the horse you want for £3 and then laying it back at the same price for £2 - then you would have your nominal £1 bet!

You can do this, but there is the risk that you might not be able to match the lay at the same price if the price shifts

Safer way to do it is in this example

There is a horse @ say 10.0 that you want put £1 on
Select 'Back' and increase the price to 20.0, and stake £2
THe bet will be unmatched
Amend the unmatched bet to £3 @ 20.0
The bet will still be unmatched but you will see in the 'My Bets' screen that the bet has been split into two bets: £2 @ 20.0, £1 @ 20.0
Cancel the £2 bet and amend the £1 bet to 10.0 and you will have a £1 bet on

Take a matter of seconds and lets you put £1 bets on

I made some comment about a certain female "celebrity" and was PM'ed that I could get done for libel, does the highlighted remark, far worse than what I said, not lay itself open to the same thing, especially as an official of the forum agrees.  I only mention this because I feel that the remark could get a forumite in trouble, and we don't want that.  Unless of course it is already public knowledge, and proven that the statement is true.

Why didn't you just PM these concerns to mods/admin?
