Hi Going Stick! Best prices will probably be now a/p but obviously that's because of the risk involved in the heats! Personally if I didn't take an ap price I would wait nearer the final if not the final itself but by then you'd usually have a hot favourite.
Fear Haribo has been pushed out from favouritism due to bad trapping last time out but I still fancy him. Westmead Lord is supposed to be well thought of and I was reading about a dog called Blonde Dino who is supposed to be super fast. These are just my idle meanderings mind!
Well we know Westmead Lord won the Derby. Blonde Dino went out in the quarters and has contested the Irish, but when knocked out in the 3rd round was found to be carrying a slight strain in a back leg. But that is history! After a few weeks off, he was back galloping and showed up at Monmore at the weekend to contest 480m. He won by an astounding eight lengths and set a new World Record into the bargain, stopping the clock at 27.81.

This greyhound is on fire at the moment. Please that they all make it through the Reading Masters - we greyhound fans have had a bad run of injuries since Phoenix Paddy in the English Derby. Anyway this from the RP site and what looks to be cracking set of heats this Thursday...

Blonde Dino clocked the fastest time of the round in the heats of the Reading Masters on Sunday, but main ante-post rival Fear Haribo also set pulses racing when contemptuously shrugging off a slow start with a tremendous burst of pace to lead at the bend in his eliminator.
On a night when the leading hopefuls generally made it safely through even if some were beaten at short odds in their eliminators, the only sub-28sec run of the round came from Blonde Dino with John Mullins' dog coming through to lead at the third bend in heat six and drawing clear to beat kennelmate Hackney Carriage by almost five lengths in 27.91sec (normal).
That run came hard on the heels of odds-on successes for both Cleenas Lady (28.20sec) and Fear Haribo (28.13sec) and the trio are now the only survivors quoted at single-figure odds across the board.
Indeed, Blonde Dino is as short as 5-2 in a place for the £20,000 competition, which now continues with a Thursday/Wednesday/Sunday format, although there is 4-1 available with Bet 365 and local layer Steve Harris.

Tonights Derby Quarter Final made me think fo this thread. Ballymac Ruso won the race, Bandicoot Topiki was eliminated. Both dogs have recently broken Blonde Dinos world record, all three races were over Monmores 480. My thinking is either the track runs super fast, or the distance is wrong. Its unusual to have three different dogs break a long standing world record time in such short order. Id love to see one or other break records at other tracks.
