Another Good race. This is exhausting........But fun

Anyone any thoughts on the french runner Reggane ? Trained by Dupre...his only runner this week ?

Andre Fabre had a winner in this race a few years back who came here off the back of a win in the Prix Sandringham. This one ran a good 2nd there a few weeks back. Looks open to improvement.

Could be a nice ew price ?

Thoughts ?

Have backed her all 3 starts this season but won't be tomorrow. Will be outpaced on good-firm

The Oxx horse is interesting. Ghanaati the one to beat

I'm sticking with her @ 16/1. It's a race for 2nd, or should i say third ? chances as also done Rainbow View e/w @ 7/1, still think when she was cut across in The Oaks her chance was compromised considerably, both horses not sure on the ground and Rainbow View got it to prove stepped back to 1m, think the prices reflect there chance well though and is my play.

Baliyana is a funny one, she doesn't look as though she's bred to be a miler and the last time they ran her she made all, I'm not sure she'll be able to do that here as there are a few that will take her on and she'll have to be very good to do that against 3 guineas winners.

I thought Ghanaati won the guineas with a bit in hand and should beat all those she ran against here. Again needs further, especially on this ground and I've no idea what to make of the Coolmore jockey bookings. I think there's some big question marks over the Pouliches form.

I've got to side with Ghanaati, hopefully she'll just sit off a strong pace set by Elusive Wave and Baliyana and take it up a few furlongs from home like she did in the guineas

I hate to agree vehemently but Ghanaati is still quite unexposed - she's the first Guineas winner for over 13 years to have not been 1st or 2nd in a group event prior to Newmarket (my wife basically told me where to stick the trends book after that result ). She has heaps of improvement in her and Barry's horses are going great this week (Ouqba and Huzzah ran great races).

She'd be evens favourite or shorter if trained by Stoute or O'Brien and the only danger is a 'bounce'. I'm extremely exited - she's the best favourite that's running this week in my view and I hope she wins it for Barry - a top guy & Richard H will get it right for his dad.

Cheers, PT

ps Having lost twice on Rainbow View I'll be well annoyed if she wins but even with the excuses she has heaps to prove, even at 7-1

I tell you the Hills family are sneaky devils, one of the things that struck me in the 1000 guineas was the way Richard Hills rode the filly, it was like he knew he had a horse under him that was good enough to win a classic even though her bare form was light years away from it. The way she was striding along at the head of affairs for most of the race and he didn't appear to throw everything at her either.

Another thing people have been saying this week is that horses that are suited by the all weather surface seem to do well at Ascot. It's obvious I'm trying to talk myself into placing a big bet on her now

It wouldn't be a total shock if she were to win but I'm not going to pay money to find out in this kind of field and also she has the profile of a horse that hasn't trained on.

I'm trying to get through Ascot unscathed this year and so have a placeholder bet on Ghanaati at the moment. If I get anything back from Cecil's in the first (nice EW price in a race full of dogs) or Montaff TBP ( ) in the KEVII then I'll steam properly into her.

The only horse to fear is Elusive Wave & the French do win this (2/13) but Ghanaati is soooooo unexposed despite the Group 1 win. The only stat against her is that 12/13 winners have run 4 times or more but she smashed what was an important stat at Newmarket so I judge this one irrelevant.

I can talk her up some more --- but am inclined to get over excited at 11pm at night....

Elusive Wave is my last best chance for the week.

The ground will be too fast for Rainbow View surely, if it was in the Guineas?

I'm not playing in anything today, but just a quick note of caution regarding the going.

From doing my speed figures the times on all 3 days so far have indicated Good ground.

For what its worth I think Ghannati should hack up, but Rainbow Views speed figures this year indicate she has improved from last year and I can see her running a belter, the only downside for me would be Gosdens form at the minute - Take The Hint was a bitter dissapointment yesterday in particular.

Good Luck All

I'd second what 2six8 says. They've watered again and it would be a mistake to assume it's jarring ground. David Watchman runs Again and he wouldn't if it was that firm and despite what his trainer said Vision d'Etat went well on it. Newmarket really was rattling on 1000G day and was reported as GF/F in places for the later races.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how this race will be run? Elusive Wave has dictated from the front quite often and Bayliana seems to prefer to front-run too so EW may not get to dictate terms in such a facile fashion. Ghanaati will probably be quite close to the pace too and I reckon Gosden/Fortune will have Rainbow View more prominently today - she clearly is less of a madam this year and perhaps does not need the cover.

With all this potential for a strong pace is it worth thinking about the hold-up jobs - Again at a nicer price? She smashed a long-held, solid trend to win the Irish 1000.

It'll either go one of two ways Elusive Wave and Bayliana will take each other on and we'll get a strong pace or Elusive Wave will take up the running by herself and slow the pace from the start and then build it up. My feeling is that they'll take each other on, a horse with Bayliana's pedigree needs to outstay them and a slow pace wont suit her.
