Does anyone bet on stocks and shares using Finspread or something similar. I see Betfair have got a stocks section and will study it over the next few weeks.
I am wondering if the stock market boys have ever tried their luck at this ? Maybe using a stop/loss system its possible to make a profit. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you
I've been dabbling recently trying to take advantage of the volatile market. I've been using www.paddypowertrading.com, they've got a demo account as have most of the sites and also they'll underwrite the first £300 worth of loss if you have a bad start.
But don't be fooled it is still spreadbetting and not stock market investing.
Surely if you are spread betting, all you are doing is betting on the stocks going up or down, the same as trading ?
I know Finspreads have a futures market, so the basic principles of choosing which stocks to buy must still be the same ? _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you
i work for one of finspreads competitors and trade spreads, cfds and options. let me know if you have any questions about these products.
Thanks Acca.
The big question is can you make money or is it too risky ? 50p a point looks to me like you would need a large bank to cover losing trades.
Psstttt rumour has it Robbie Keanne was due at the Lane but got stuck in traffic near Highbury Corner. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you

When I buy shares I can go to the shareholder meetings, get a dividend, get shareholder perks, don't have to pay money to keep the trade open over night, don't have to have a margin to cover the trade etc etc.

That's the way I look at it as well, but at present I'm mainly betting on the FTSE. I used to work with someone who didn't have a very taxing job and he went through a period of spending about 3 hours a day just trading points on the £:$ markets, how boring must that of been
I did a ton of research before I placed my first bet. This web site contains loads of information http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/. All of the web sites I went to allow you to open up a demo account and trade imaginary money, it's worth trying your hand at it that way before depositing real money.

i deal with our biggest clients - predominantly dealing equities, but pretty much everything from time to time. some of the accounts i look after are down several million, others up the same. it doesn't make much difference to us because it's all fully hedged business.
just like trading direct to the market, you can make money but it's tough. if you're good enough to make money trading direct you're good enough to make it using derivatives like cfds or spread bets. it's just understanding the product - which alot of people do not.
i can't believe we're buying keane back. we're a joke club.
