Above Limits - 2.30 Stable a tad bit slow this year compared to last but would love to see them bring this one home.

Father Time - 3.05 On paper looks the 2nd string of Cecil's but I wouldn't underestimate it. Very strong chance.

Elusive Wave - 3.45 Improved to win French 1,000G & hopefully will continue that improvement. (One of my TTF has to win this week at least! ).

Halicarnassus - 4.20 Ran very well in this a year ago & has a decent chance at the weights of geting home in front today.

Yankee Doodle - 4.55 O'Briens 2nd String (or not! ). Major chance in this.

Nice getting out race in the last!   Redford Was thought to be a Listed or even Group horse at one point but is still in Handicaps. Decent chance at the weights.
Mr Macattak E/W.  Giganticus E/W - This one is slipping down to his old mark & should run well. (Maybe they are getting it up for another crack at the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket which it won 2 years ago! ).

2:30 - Understandably the betting revolves around Ward and O'Brien's fillies. I can't back either at the prices though would prefer Aegean. In a search for some sensible value I like Chachamaidee. Despite a desperate run of results at Royal Ascot for Cecil (19 since a win) she is drawn next to some serious pace (Aegean) and may profit if the latter doesn't quite stay the stiff 6.

3:05 - Tough to pick a winner here; BBI is completely exposed and a bit short for me whereas South Easter is looking to break a fairly solid stat regarding not having won a group race prior to this. Instead I'm having a comedy couple of quid on Montaff. Don't laugh - I know Channon's not averse to overhyping his horses but this one ran well at Chester and any horse can be forgiven a bad run at Epsom. Holland aboard (great jockey form yesterday   ) and worth a place bet at 8-1.

3:45 - Ghanaati. Still unexposed despite a Group 1 win. The main threat is perceived to be Elusive Wave but French 1000G winners have a fairly poor record. I may have to save on Rainbow View once I see her in the paddock... will someone please talk me out of it!!

4:20 - Really tough for hold-up horses in big fields over 10F here; they have to fly at the finish and history shows this is tricky. Many of the principals seem to prefer this style of racing whereas Mores Wells is apparently well handicapped having run admittedly badly in lots of group races. Has form on GF, runs in the first few and is drawn well. 20s + is a good steal.

4:55 - I like Johnston's pair here and have sided with Sabotage. Easy maiden win which stands him in good stead here but knowing the way I back his runners the other one will win. Bit worried that Egan is aboard but we'll see....

Good luck today!

Cheers, PT.

15.05 - Father Time - 0.5pt WIN @ 16/1, 2pts PLACE (1,2,3) @ 4/1
17.30 - Golden Desert - 1pt WIN @ 25/1, 4pts PLACE (1,2,3,4,5) @ 9/2

Father Time should relish the step up to 1m4f and although he's a bit tricky this doesn't look a great race and he can make the frame at a good price.

Golden Desert loves Ascot (3,1,5 with the 3rd being over 6f and when 5th he was 1st on his side) and looks on a fair mark. Ran a nice enough prep on his seasonal reappearance behind 2 well treated sorts. Can't see him being far away and looks well overpriced

E/W Lucky 15 (Betfred) - Father Time 14/1, Ghanaati 5/2, Clowance House 20/1, Golden Desert 22/1

i said i wouldn't bet today after my disasterous efforts so far this week, but who am i kidding? it's royal ascot, and it's friday. of course i'm having a bet. what do they expect me to do, work all afternoon? don't be ridiculous.

e/way lucky 15 (i don't even approve of e/way multiples really);

2.30 Jira @ 25/1
3.05 Debussy @ 10/1
3.45 Evasive Wave @ 11/4
4.20 Pinpoint @ 14/1

returns about £30k plus bonuses for £30. amazing considering it's a virtual certainty.

accajacca you make me laugh. Gl with your acca!

The Caoronation today is one hell of a race, no-one has skirted this race. I've liked Elusive Wave for a long time now, so I'll stick with her.
I also really liked the look of Nashmiah on Guineas day, a strong filly. Clive Brittain was super confident about her chances back then, I just thought she'd need a lot of work to get race fit due to her big musucular frame. Hopefully she can prove herself a better filly than she showed at Newmarket, she looked ok to me at York. So I'll be throwing some shrapnell at her at ridiculous prices.

I always wonder a bit if Mick Channon knows much about what he has actually got at home, but I'm prepared to back Montaff after all the talk Channon gave him at Epsom.
Although this is an exception to my usual rule of not backing anything one race after the Derby to see if the race has knackered the horse.

Has Abdulla had enough of Tom Queally? Eddie Ahern rides Father Time for Henry today. I think Father Time should have won last time out in the Newmarket listed race, harsh to jock him off though.

I imagine Tom Queally chose to ride Native Ruler.

But I thought he was retained by Abdulla now. Or is it just Henry chooses whoever he likes and likes Tom at the moment for most of Abdulla's horses.

My understanding is he's first rider for Henry Cecil. Never see him riding the Prince's horses for other trainers.

Normally a good policy but if they're not hard ridden when beaten the track doesn't always kill them (I'm thinking Frozen Fire as a good example). Beaten Derby horses have gone well in this race.

Still only have Montaff TBP. If the days going well I might win-back too.
