Last year was a nightmare, but I'm thinking I'll walk away with £500 this year, give or take 50.

You?

£500 would be great....but couple of hundred would do me nicely. Kasbah Bliss is going to have a big say, if he wins then I will pretty much guarantee breaking even. (Which as we all know is going to happen   )

if you ignore ante-post, and just go on the 4 days, breaking even is a miracle (and I have been praying for a miracle for a mere 35 years!)

good days and bad d ays but haven't made a 3 fgure profit over the days of the festival since 1993.

now there's a refreshingly honest appraisal!

Normally I do okay at the festival. The smart answer to how much I expect to win is...... Nothing. That way, anything else is a bonus, plus i enjoy the racing without worrying about a return.

my grandad who introduced me to racing always said your take was or the privelige of having a share in the horse as it ran

any return was pure profit

i think the question is wrong, it should be how much do you expect cheltenham to cost you? and then take into account your betting each day and a few liquid refreshments with friends and/or like minded people.

this is a festival/celebration a time to enjoy yourself - if you went to soccer match would you expect to come out in front?

Im suprised people are so negative, for most of the races I will be using the stats and would hope to make some kind of profit on those. And then I will do some lucky 15's and placepots of my own selections. I'd still be hopeful of some kind of profit though. Was it last year Pedrobob won the the bumper cos I made a decent profit that year

He won the County Hurdle two years ago.

I very much take the view that (a) the answer to the question posed is "nothing". And that (b) if by any miraculous chance I win a couple of bob (depending on whether you count in expenses before calculating the winnings, because if so I'd have to have ALL my a/p bets come up to make any sort of profit at all!) it will be a bonus on top of the sheer enjoyment and excitement.

Sounds boring but with any bets I place break even is great news although I do seem to do well at Cheltenham.

Arepeat of last year (£450 up) would be great although this was enhanced by a Lucky 15 on the Tuesday when I backed Tidal Bay 6/1, Captain Cee Bee 12/1 and Katchit 10/1.

Jet..........

Break even is a relief, but hoping for better

Went into last years Cheltenham with a decent war-chest due to a successful NH season punting wise. Started off way up after wins on Tiday Bay and Crack away Jack on the Tuesday, then nothing till Denman in the GC. Overall came out about even.

The problem is that the quality of racing at Cheltenham is so good and the buzz of the whole event just seems to encourage me to have bets on races that I would not normally try to solve. Its FUN after all and the main reason that I try to build up winnings over the season.

Not in such a good position this year after a bad summer on the flat and a terrible time through January, but i still have enough to have a real go at Cheltenham.

As with soooo many others, Kasbah winning would help.........

This might sound boring but the key to making a profit is not get sucked into betting on every race. Find the betting opportunities  study the form and keep away from handicaps !

If your serious about making money you need to treat this like any other day and not start chasing loses in 30 runner mares only handicaps hurdles.!!!
