Here is a nice idea from Archie. Maybe we can keep it to horses we have seen run either at the course or on TV. We cant make it sticky but if its used enough the thread will stay close to the top of the board.

hello alansouthcoast,im going to suggest a idea for you to consider, may work, may not anyhow its this
on wednesday jan 3rd i went to a bookies near to where we were stopping at to collect my winnings from my footie bet the previous day, anyway while i put my money in my wallet a horse race was about to be off and running so upon on looking at the screen i saw a horse called play up pompey(with me being a footie fan and also been to pomey i watched it from stalls to finish line) and it travelled superbly well and even at one point thought it would win but it finished third and i thought next time maybe when the jockey has the horse closer to the pace it will def win,any way im suggesting to you maybe have a sticky with the word notebook beside it and maybe posters could see a horse which ran well and is a next time out punt and put the horses name in there, anyway has i said just a suggestion
by the way play up pompey
trainer-jj bridger
class 6
weight carried was 8-13
distance was 1m-2f
course was kempton
next time out i reckon if it runs against the same class of horse and nowt in the field is progessing then worth a punt.cheers

Ok here's a few horses/races i have stored away in my mind based on the fact that they have caught my eye.

Ossmoses will win the Red Square Vodka Gold Cup at Haydock in Feb. He may also win the National if its softish going.

Acoordello will win a 3 mile handicap hurdle.

London Express will win the Ebor provided the word firm is not in the going description.

Pilca and Kings Signal will win a good 2m handicap on a sharp track with good ground. I think there's a valuable 2m handicap hurdle at Mussleburgh very soon won last year by Crow Wood. Perfect track/ground for the aforementioned horses. Both still well treated.

Acambo is now being aimed at the Totegold Trophy and might win it after winning a red hot race a shade cosily last time out. Papini also won with a fair bit in hand today and is going for the race too and should go well.

There's probably more stored away in my mind somewhere which i will post as and when i remeber them.

Cheers

Owl

Good Idea.

Sunisa should win a class 3 /2 hurdle over 2miles in soft ground or better off her current mark. Very game race last time in conditions that did not suit.

PREMIER DANE will win a race over hurdles this season but requires GOOD ground or better.

red spell again got caught out yesterday when hattans jockey made the winning move and caught the field out,he made up loads of ground, again like he did 2 runs before in another slow run race.he will fins himself in a decent pace race soon on the poly surface.

this is a good idea alan!! i know PREACHER BOY started favourite today at sandown but ran well in softer ground that ideal and considering he has only ran 8times has lots of improvement to come.... but the most important thing for this horse is the ground when its good or bet his gonna be a bet for me....

MODEL ATHLETE who won a hot bumper travelled well today but was let down by his jumping but hopefully with some more schooling he will jump better and is one to follow....

these are my 2 from todays racing..

If Bahiano goes to Dubai for the Carnival he'll go close in one of the 6.5f handicaps on turf. Everything about these races is perfect for the horse and he ought to be a backable price, assuming he is actually travelling out there.

Caustic Wit. Backed it yesterday & it just lost out. Been running well lately & must get his due reward.

Sahara Spirit - Came from Ireland, now trained over here with some form but still a little unexsposed. Just failed to get up at Kempton having chased the winner all the way to the line from a furlong out.

Dom Dorgeval - He has changed hands now and is in David Pipe's care. I really like this horse as he never gives in, ran a blinder last time behind Inglis Drever, only beaten 5 Lengths and was staying on very well, he got outpaced down the back and Ruby had to get busy on him. Pipe is now trying him over fences but I guess if that fails this horse could run a big race for a place in the world hurdle if on the softish side. He has run well at the festival before.

I'll put up 2, 1 I have seen run and 1 that ran today (but I didn't watch the race!):

MARODIMA

Pulls extremely hard for his head in races, but still managed a good third behind PAULLIAC on its penultimate run. Ran on bottomless ground at Haydock and really fought the jockey for it's head, jockey had to let it go on and predictably it ran out of steam when challenged. However, it did jump the brush hurdles proficiently, and, obviously has talent - I would suggest looking out for this horse in better races and maybe a handicap (depending on mark, etc) as it will get a better pace of race and settle, and give it's true running.

THUNDER ROCK

Dead-heated for 1st today at Plumpton with Santando. Both decent flat horses, but TR was considered 'group class' - he finished an unlucky 5th behind Young Mick at Ascot. TR's 1st run over hurdles was in a competitive race that is now producing some winners, and I think Thunder Rock will go on to bigger and better things, on much better ground.

The Irish Point to Point circuit throws up some excellent horses, and it is even more competitive nowadays than it used to be, particularly in the lightweight divisions.

There is an Irish pointer around the place who might well repay keeping an eye on.

He is Mhic Mocroi. He has won both his maiden and second point in very fine style, at Castletown-Geoghan and Bartelmy, by 10l (very easy) and 20l (unextended), ridden by the prominent amateur J T McNamara.

He is by Old Vic out of Susans Lass (Sharp Vision) so he doesn't lack quality in the breeding department. He was entered in a race under Rules in Ireland recently (can't remember where, think it was Limerick) but was a reserve and didn't make the line up.

He has the potential to be snapped up by a rich UK owner (or a rich Irish one). He is currently owned by the Smokey Joe syndicate and trained by E McNamara (who I assume is J T's dad!) He'll be making his mark fairly soon, I suspect.

Hi All,

PUNJABI - I have been waiting for this horse to run for AGES - maybe it wont ever run again but if you take a look at its last race and how unlucky it was then surely it has an AW race at its mercy!!!!

Hot Lips Page - Ran today at Ludlow. After taking a good postion early seem to find the fast gallop set a bit much & was under pressure just after half way. Managed to keep battling on to take 4th place. Looks as if he would be better in a steadier run race & with abit more give in the ground. Just hope all these good runs lately haven't taken too much out of him, but I'm sure he will pick up a race soon.

Gracechurch - Always travelled well in his race today but couldn't live with the finishing burst of the winner. Capable of winning a nice race somewhere.
