The best thing the toon fans can do is boycott the kit, it's awful, worst kit I've ever seen. Steven Taylor doesn't seem to agree though, he seems very pleased with it.

Excited actually.

An obvious ploy to try and make sure no-one recognises them as Newcastle in the Championship.

no. last time I recognised us was tail end of 07/08; since August 08 we have been a shambles masquerading as a football club. unrecognisable.

Do you mean the half a dozen months when KK was back in charge.... when he didn't get a win for ages but then he bigged up Michael Owen, got him fit and he went and banged a load of goals in when without him NUFC couldn't buy a goal?

when KK had him playing behind the front two; MArtins and viduka? Yes. because we had a manager who could get something out of the little (insert comment here) and he was of course playing for his england place in the summer as you will recall.

we loooked like a team and a club then.... how short lived

I can understand you being pee'd off with Owen, however, in some respects I think some of your views are a bit harsh.

It's not as if he suddenly got dodgy hamstrings at NUFC. You knew what you were getting when you bought him.... just like you did Woodgate who you managed to offload.

Suggesting he played better when he thought he would get in the England squad is odd. If it is accurate, you clearly gained from it anyway and without him potentially could have finished lower!

I was under the impression that Owens record at Newcastle was not all that bad when he did play...... but that was just not often enough.

As for slating him for still having aspirations of playing in the top division and for being a mercinary.... well, add him to the long list of rats escaping sinking ships bound for the Championship over the last 20+ years not to mention the foreign imports out for a quick buck.

I find things like the Daniel Sturridge situation far sadder than a thirty something ex England international hoping to finish his career earning as much as possible!
