My flatmate(who's a once a year National punter) went into Ladbrokes today and asked if he could see "a list of horses for the National" to which the chaps reply was apparently "come back tomorrow and you can but not today". When he told me this, and I informed him that people have been betting on The National since seconds after last years race finished he was quite miffed.

Any idea what Ladbrokes are playing at?

Probably because the final 40 (with 4 reserves) will not be declared until tomorrow so no one actually has the list of the 40 runners until then thats probably what the Ladbrokes person was saying

Yeah that could well be it Yaiyam. He wanted to put a bet on there & then on My Will but suppose depending on how he worded it they may have been thinking he wanted to just see a list of declared runners
