Taken to hospital with a cardiac arrest and at least one news site is reporting that he's died.

Michael Jackson hospitalized

LOS ANGELES — A fire department official tells the Los Angeles Times that Michael Jackson has been rushed to the hospital.

Steve Ruda told the newspaper Thursday that Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m.

The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the paper.

L. Londell McMillan, a lawyer for Jackson, did not have any information. Messages left for other Jackson associates were not immediately returned.

The hospitalization was first reported by the Web site TMZ.

On BBC now

This will be sad news despite what has happened over the last 10 years.

Millions, maybe billions of people were touched by this man's music. (well on the dance floor anyway)

Thriller

Oh yeah.. I remember my mum playing Off The Wall and how great it was. And Thriller.

What ever happened after that, I'll never not get a shiver when I hear Thriller start up.

Some places saying he's in a coma and family are "at his bedside"

Either way - he's got three kids - Best wishes to them - whether this is imaginary or true it's got to be a nightmare for them.

He had a heart attack, and the paramedic captain confirmed he wasn't breathing when they arrived. That's pretty serious...

The fact he wasn't breathing makes me suspect that the "coma" will be "keeping him on life support til the family can get there and say good bye".

He was on BBC news earlier, as if he's in the same celebrity sphere as Jackson.

He was on the BBC before Sky, it's not really fair to say he's "getting in on it", he's been the guy's friend for ages and judging by the phones, people are chasing him... And I think Sky just shocked him with the news the LA Times has said he's dead.

Yep, hearing differing reports from different news channels, but word's coming through that he's dead ok, deader than flares. I reckon those holding tickets for his tour are feeling a bit pissed off now.
