First the bad news, we have a deficit of -32.91 points. Hopefully we can pull a little back today with an outright bet on College Causeway. At first glance this looks like a risky bet at skinny odds, a second view shows differently though. College won his first round heat in a spectacular time, taking three lengths off the course record. He has a tricky draw tomorrow in the third round, but since the first three qualify, he should reach the next round. Wise Thought and Kinda Ready have been eliminated but many of the top dogs remain. The second favourite Shannyboy Lee seems to be all the rage, although he hasnt won as many decent trophies as College Causeway has, not yet anyway. The favourite still looks a big price at 5/1 and my opinion is thats great value after his first round run.

Selections

Irish Derby Outright.
College Causeway 8 points win @ 5/1 with Betfred.
Tyrur Giovanni a fun bet of 1 point E/w @ 100/1 also with Betfred

Total outlay 10 points, running total -32.91 points

Update

After last nights heats both selections are still in the competition. College Causeway was drawn in heat six but still qualified, as yet his first round time is way ahead of anything else. Tyrur Giovanni won in the fastest time of the night, he has an easier race in the quarter finals in my view. CC runs in the most competitive of the four heats. Fingers crossed for them both.

Tyrur is as low as 10/1 now

College Causeway did the business in style by all accounts. I hope some of you took the 5/1.

The good news for this article is that despite covering the losses of my mid week articles, we now show an overall level stakes profit. It doesnt seem like much, but I am just ahead after two years and have had some very close near misses at big odds. Westmead will understand what I mean, but it has taken me almost a year to get interested in dog racing again, since the closure of Walthamstow.

Advised outlay was two ten points bets. Tyrur Giovanni lost two points and College Causeway won 38 points.

New Running Total is + 5.09 Points.
