Apparently the bookies don't think a conditionals handicap is scraping the barrel enough and want more! The change in start time denied them "end of day" trade on the 2 days with six races so they want 7 across the board (or to start at 2 if there's only 6)
So what could they add?
The Paddy Power/Richard Dunwoody Claiming Hurdle, perhaps?
Championship 2m4 hurdle is probably the one missing, also perhaps a 3 1/2 - 4m chase for the non-novices?
I remember they were talking about putting in something similar in the form of a 4m national trial race.
This would be pointless so close to Aintree, more so if the race was a slog.
Maybe a race for National entries unlikely to make the weights would be better. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you

They'd have to do something about the timing of the two festivals, three weeks between the two is way too short a time for it to work properly. I was thinking the other day the NH 4 miler is a trial race for future winners.

I'm really pleased that so many of you want to see a 2m 4f hurdle, actually. Something like that would be tailormade for Katchit next season - or maybe just what Kasbah Bliss needs?
I don't think the Ryanair has detracted much from the QM or the GC, so I could see this working.
