I am putting this up as a new topic just so that everyone notices it!

York seems to be our best bet. Glennie wil be absent but has given me "power of attorney".

Far North will try to make it (please confirm). Sky will come if it's worth his while!

Anyone else? - we do need at least half of the people who have said they would take up shares. Otherwise there's not much point and people (esp Sky and anyone else from abroad) will lose their money.

Doesn't the Leger meeting tempt anyone (possibly not...... )?

York is too far for me to go at the mo. Until I get a new job I am not going to be able to chip in.

Can i join up at a later date?

Jej, understood - Porchester is even more of a slog to York than West Wales.

If you can't chip in at this stage, no probs. In fact, if we DO manage to get this off the ground, membership will inevitably change as time goes on - people wanting to join and others to leave. Or, if we seem to be able to put a group together to cover all costs, and the group then sticks together, a new member would lower the monthly costs, and perhaps they could put something into the contingency pot instead of the up front money for purchase. Just a thought.......

I have had an offer of a meeting room just for us in York, central, in a hotel, just next door to the bar.......No expense to anyone.

Sounds good - so PLEASE post as soon as you can about whether you can attend; otherwise I might lose it In both senses....... :badred: .

I haven't signed up for a share because I tend to take the bums on seats view with this kind of thing. I would be interested in a share and would be more so having met with people interested, so, I would be happy to travel north for the 9th. I have a share in a horse due to expire next year but am fairly much hooked (despite the inevitable frustrations involved).

Excellent, Westmeadhawk!

I agree about bums on seats; as I said, we need about half the potential members to turn up at York to make this worth while continuing with.

We have a room booked at York for 1030 on 9 September. The booking can be held until Sunday 3 September, when it can be cancelled with no penalty. I have volunteered to pay the room fee, so I have a personal interest! I know it seems a long way away now, with the Ebor meeting in between, but the more takers, the sooner, the better!

Otherwise, I have to say that we may have to put the idea to bed.

I will also have to grant you power of attorney Jen as I have no more leave until the end of the year.

Fair enough, Costa. "Power of attorney" counts as attending! But let me know any thoughts or views in advance, so I can represent you properly!

I see there is not a lot of "CONFIRMED RUNNERS" so far for the YORK meeting.
Unfortuneatly, I`m also unable to confirm my attendance until much nearer the time. Possibly even down to the last day or two. You see i`m self employed and late summer/early Autumn is always our busy spell. I haven`t spoken with Toastie regarding the meeting, But I do believe he can not drive for two weeks. I`m no sure if the York date will come too soon for him. We`ll also have to wait and see.

I am not going to travel south on my own, So BOTTLE 2/1 is my odds for attending at present.

Rapid, understood.

The very last day for takers is 4 September (because of the need to confirm/cancel the room). I shall be at the St Leger meeting anyway, so even if I have to cancel the room, we could all meet up somewhere (though York will be heaving and I don't know it well enough to suggest a suitable meeting point - maybe at the course itself?)

Any other ideas. anyone?

I do hope we can muster more than 3 people out of those interested.

So do I! Please don't forget that we are talking about OWNING A RACEHORSE, with all the implications of that, including welfare, legal and financial. I know some of you have expressed the view that you would want to "take a back seat", but unless we want to go down the Elite route (2 registered owners and the rest just putting in money, which I don't think is what people want) we do need some sort of initial commitment from at least half of those who have expressed an interest. Otherwise, the group is likely to break up over some tiny thing we haven't thought of, with all sorts of consequences, including most importantly to the horse!

I fully understand that people may not be able to make York, for all sorts of reasons, but so far responses to this idea have been small - Sky, me, Glennie, Rapid, Rathven, Costa, Jej, Westmeadhawk, not all of whom are anyway able to make the meeting. So where are Yaiyam, Skanky, Mansfield, NewSeeker, Golfswing, Chewster, Jair, NoDough, Harchiefan, Pickles, Dom, Nick1176, Blueboy, Shamardal and Bobby W?? OK, Skanky is on honeymoon and others may be on holiday, but.....

To be honest, I would not be prepared to take this further unless we can get a reasonable turnout at York. Reading through this forum you will have realised that this is not a simple thing - just stick in some money, sit back and wait for something to happen. It requires detailed organisation and hard work, a lot of which has been done already, and all the information needed is now on this forum for anyone who wants to take this further.

If we can't muster at least 10 potential members for the York meeting, I have to say that I would need a lot of persuasion to continue (unless someone is prepared to take over the admin!) Be nice, people. Otherwise this is going down the drain.....

Toast, don't push yourself! Glad to know you're out of the NHS clutches, but don't overdo it and have a setback (and we all know about these....!)

If you could make York, great! If not, no worries as far as you are concerned. But I am worrying a bit about others, who seem to be around on other threads but don't appear to have picked up on this one. Still, there's time yet (but not much for Sky, because he has to come from Amsterdam).

Jenny,

Maybe if the York turnout is going to be low, those that can't make it could suggest an alternative that they could make.
