Get all the chat in here folks.....
Got me and my mates 18 tickets today, £316
Anyone else going to the first classic of the year?
Early fancies are Authorized each way, the 20/1 antepost looks huge considering his Racing Post Trophy win over a mile. Looks like he will need softish ground, but in this weather and at that price, its worth a go.
Teofilo looks the one to beat, if he winters well and fills out that huge frame he will be a monster.
Ones to LAY are anything trained by Aiden O'Brien. Hasn't got the services of Fallon who gets a real tune out of these younger horses, and Holy Roman Emperor looked a small sort in the Horation Nelson mode who struggled till passing away last year. What I'm trying to get across is I'm not convinced these 2 yer olds will train on as well as some of the other contenders.
Dutch Art has his admirers on here too? _________________ Pricewise + ValueScope = Steaks for stakes. Every Saturday a winner. Roll up Roll up!

I really cant see past a Teofilo, HRE 1 & 2, with Teofilo filling the 1st place slot. I am thinking about going, but only thinking at the moment _________________ 2008 Roll Of Honour (So Far....)

Sunshine, a parade ring full of horses that could be anything and NO fences - hurray!
I think Teofilo will be the one, although I am thinking his profile is possibly more of a Derby winner. Hoping it's both! _________________ Greet people with four kisses - one for each cheek... Duke Ellington
btw Toon did you get a free bet voucher like last year or do you have to wait and see? _________________ Greet people with four kisses - one for each cheek... Duke Ellington

Yeah, its awesome! Plenty of beer, the warm sun on your back, and looking at load of horses that you havnt really seen alot of, but you know they will be 'household' names in the horseracing world in 6 months time....magic _________________ Pricewise + ValueScope = Steaks for stakes. dont forget Authorized's trainer had huge doubts about the going in the racing post trophy he thinks he needs better ground
so dont be doing any rain dances yet........
i think dutch art may have too much pace for his rivals
teofillo is a monster and only just does enough but i think he needs further than a mile _________________ Tazbar = machine up north (wont be beaten over hurdles in scotland)

I don't suppose anyone knows when the entries for the Guineas are released. I've scoured the internet for the relevant information, but so far my search has been in vain. Last year's entries were released on March 7th, so hopefully there won't be too long to wait now. My prime reason for wanting to see the entries is to help identify any 'dark horses' that are felt to have wintered particularly well.
As far as the front three in the betting go, I have doubts about Dutch Art seeing out the 8f trip. The distaff side of his pedigree is pretty much all about sprinting, although admittedly there isn't a wealth of information on which to base that opinion. That said, I reckon he'll be making his impact over sprint distances this term. Teofilo looks pretty bombproof in that he had the speed to win over 7f as a 2yo off both a strong pace in the Dewhurst, and a slow one in the National. He'll be on the premises in May, but is no longer value at 2/1. I certainly wouldn't rule out Holy Roman Emperor on the basis that he is a compact colt, not guaranteed to train on. It would be unwise to believe dogmatically that such types don't progress. He'll be trained to the minute for the race, and a reproduction of his Dewhurst form (arguably an unlucky loser) will see him go close. A worthy second favourite, but again, hardly a betting proposition. Most of the others look relatively exposed, and I'd expect that if the winner doesn't come from the 3 market leaders, it will be a lightly raced sort.
Authorized is a pretty stoutly bred colt, and I reckon he'd be better off pursuing a traditional Derby preparation, skipping the Guineas in favour of something like the Dante. His win in the RP Trophy was impressive, but to my eyes at least, indicated that he is the type for distances in excess of 10f as a 3yo.
Ones a bit further down the betting that might represent a bit of value include Haatef, who can only improve and looks generously priced at 25/1. Equally, Mythical Kid looks the type to make up into a high-class performer (provided Godolphin look after him) and would probably be the one I'd be tempted on ante-post at 33/1.
When's the Lincoln? Always ushers in the turf flat season - back 4yos at the beginning of the season in h'caps. The 3yos haven't shaped up enough yet

Lincoln - March 31st
I've just relised I'm going to miss the first two days of Aintree as I'm out of the country.........aaaaarrrrrhhhhhh! :x _________________ SBH Comp 2008 - Runner Up

Simon,
Far be it from me to argue with the breeding guru, but- being by Medicean, who ran at a 1m- 1m2f, and out of a dam who was by Spectrum, a 1m-1m2f-1m4f runner, to me, at least on breeding, there's pretty good reason for thinking he'll stay?
