This was surely bent. In the 7.37 tonight, over 480 mtrs, all six dogs opened at 7/2. Trap Two suddenly went 3/1 - 5/2 - 2/1 - 13/8 - 6/4 - 4/5 - 8/11. Dont forget this is the track where Barry Dennis was squealing about being ripped off a few weeks ago. Whatever else it was a spectacular gamble. Two missed the break but to be honest always seemed to be going the best, and won going away, the dog is question is called Sues truffle, and last week won over 660. The price dropped in under two minutes as punters snapped up all odds.

Nice question Archie, as with Horse racing we dont see the doping like we used to. So from that point its clean, we do see unfit dogs being raced, or them sent over the wrong trip. Its also easy to fool the grader sometimes, with tricks like giving the dog a bowl of water before a trial, this slows them down but doesnt show up in any tests.

Indeed, Bags meetings are also well known for being over round. That said, surely the bent part was the dog being smashed into 8/11 ?

well yes it looks dodgy, but you won't catch me shedding a tear for bookies laying those types of prices!

the storys ive heard regarding greyhounds from folk has me shaking my head
one particular story about upsetting a greyhound while in the traps
the story goes the fella while putting the greyhound in the box also put in one of those wind up toys and let it go like the clappers the hare came the traps opened and the greyhound missed the break and finished down the field and the toy went back into the pocket of the fella
also do you remenber any greyhound racing when the dogs wore collars???
not the wee things of today but yesteryear collars??? i dont but storys about them too but i guess where theres money you always get folk not being honest.thanks archibald.

I've been a greyhound owner now for just over a year, and my experience of the sport is definitly one of fair play and love for the dogs. My bitch runs at a fairly low level (A4 Nottingham) and in my opinion the risk just wouldn't justify the rewards, should someone be trying to fix races. We receive £27 for running and a further £73 should we win, so prize money is not the incentive and the Betfair markets for BAGS meetings are sparsely supported, presumably because you can only watch races in the betting shops.

Without having a detailed knowledge of the race in question, I would hazard a guess that the on-course bookies (who form the market) got it completely wrong on this occasion (opening 7/2) as did the grader when he created the race. If this dog had opened up 6/4 would it have gone off 8/11, probably not, those in the know knew 7/2 was a crazy price and backed it ocordingly, then 'money followed money'. In my opinion there is just not enough money to be made, to justify the risks.

There probably are people out there who bend the rules, but I would think they're few and far between.

Mikey, remember this post about the same track , from the Ninja Jamie thread. Sittingbourne seems to have a lot of gambles that hardly ever lose. About three weeks ago, there was one gamble that looked lost, until the hare stopped !

Thanks to you both. Yes i may well ask on Betfair, talking of which, did anyone see Barry Dennis has been crying, as a punter pulled of a small coup regards Sittingbourne dogs last week ?

The guy backed 4 dogs combined per race, in two races, and did 144 £1.50 combination forecast doubles. In one race the reserve won at 8/1 and the other was won by a 6/1 shot. The fcast double paid £2,000 and the two dogs left out came fifth and sixth. Apparently the guy had placed loads of similar bets on the same two races for varying stakes. Bags are looking into it and Barry dennis is witholding payment until Bags says it wasnt a fiddle.
