I have always had a problem with play offs. Especially the original format which saw relegated clubs in with a chance of staying up. The Champoinship is so tight that even the top two may fall into the playoff zone and not get promoted. Hull have hit a poor spell after leaping up the table. I think the top three deserve to come up, that said i would love to see Palace in the top flight again
In league one, only the top club look sure of promotion and Forest have been in the wilderness for way too long. Leeds will prove tough to beat though.
League two is also tight but Stockport have played some decent football. I fancy them or Rochdale.
I lived fairly near the ground when Palace got promoted in the 80s. Chelsea got relegated the same season. Palace clinched promotion in front of 50,000 fans on a Friday night. Life was hell for a few weeks no matter where i went for a pint, especially my local. I got more stick than Alan Wiley at a Man Utd game.
As Machiavellian points out it is nearly always profitable to back aways in this format, I think that 8 out of the 12 League games last year ended up as away wins, plus a couple in the Conference (maybe 3) if I remember rightly.
I will wait for the semi- final line-ups before making final decisions, but I am convinced that the following 2 teams will not go up:
Bristol City - terrible recent form, and City supporters I've talked to know that they're not good enough, so a lay will be a licence to print money.
Carlisle - just blown it in recent weeks, although still a slim outside chance of automatic promotion which will be their only chance, the other 4 teams are in much better form.
The League 1 play-offs certainly look like they could be the most entertaining. Leeds and Forest have gone through a really good patch during recent months, and Southend's unbeaten run just came to an end last Saturday. Doncaster will always be hard to beat on their day, if they lose 2nd place this weekend.
In League 2, can't see Darlo doing much, as they haven't won for ages - not the sort of form to be bringing into the play-offs. I would love to see Rochdale win, but I reckon it will be tight between them and Stockport.
The Championship - I think Palace will sneak it, although Hull's form isn't too shabby and they did beat Palace last weekend, plus both clubs may not even figure yet anyway. I also think that Watford may dip out this year - terrible second half to the season.
Archie, will be looking forward to your thoughts on the Scottish play-offs, as your tips made me a nice bit of cash last season.

Flatz[/quote]hello flatz
look forward to following your selections
the only punt ive done so far is montrose to win the play offs
i didnt punt on any games yesterday has ive been away but will look to punt on certain games
good luck
cheers archie.
Already one away win, albeit in the Conference - Exeter 1 Torquay 2. A similar thing happened last year when Exeter played Oxford, and they turned it around in the away leg, so there could still be some scope for an away win in the return leg, also, of course it is a local derby so should be some atmosphere down there for the return match.
I don't think archie will be too happy after todays result.
hello TheGoingStick
aye not to
but theres worst things going on in the world to be un to long
i heard it was a close game but stranraer took there chances when they came along
its not been to bad a season compared to previous seasons when weve been absolute shite so onward and upward for next season
btw i hope the blues hammer arbroath in the final.cheers archie.
