Please post here your ideas on which trainer (within reason!) you would like to train the horse, also your opinions on yard and gallops visits.

If it was to be a NH horse Venitia Williams would be high on my list but people like Tom George and Kevin Ryan seem good. I dont think going o a huge trainer would be as beneficial also it doesnt make the fairytale as good if the horse goes to win the gold cup

Perhaps we also need to think about location, so that board members have a chance to visit. Perhaps in the middle somewhere?

If asked to express a preference I would go for Kim Bailey, who will be transfering his operation from Northamptonshire to Gloucestershire from the beginning of September.

Main reason being that he gives loads of info on his web site about how his horses are getting on, which is updated on a daily basis. Also he seems to have owners dropping in on a regular basis and already deals with horses owned by syndicates/partnerships.

If going the NH route which would be my preference then Richard Lee would be a pretty good choice he seems to do the type of ownership we are after, Jenny has pointed out he is close to her anyway and his local track is Ludlow with Bangor, Worcester, Hereford, Warwick, Stratford, Uttoxeter & CHELTENHAM not being that far away Thus cutting down on Horse Transport costs.

Update - I am in touch with Richard Lee, and have been invited to visit the yard. Is that all right with people? I have as yet had no reply from John Jenkins and Auvray.

I will look up Kim Bailey, Venetia Williams (also relatively local to me) and Tom George and make enquries there too. Venetia Williams doesn't seem to have a website (odd!) and no email address, which is a bit off-putting.

Certainly OKAY with me Jenny. Off you go and find out as much as you can.
I`ll also speak for Toast (he`s on his way to hospital) who maybe off line for a few days or so. He would also give you the go ahead to visit Richard Lee`s stable.

Rapid

Hi Jenny,

Fine by me, it's as good a starting point as any.

To be honest, I'm not that bothered about which trainer, although I do think it's a good idea to try for somewhere centralish to make it fair to all.

I've also had a good search for Venetia Williams contact details but couldn't find anything either - you're right that it's a bit strange.

Rapid - hope Toast's OK! Nothing serious, please God! Please extend my best wishes and I'm thinking of him.

Richard Lee is on the Welsh Marches (Ludlow Shropshire). So pretty easy to get to from almost anywhere (look at Birmingham and drop down and left a bit!) Ludlow has a reasonably good rail connection also.

I really think, now you have confirmed, that V Williams not having a website, or at least an email address, is very odd. On the National Trainer's Federation website she gives a phone number and fax. In this day and age you would think a big yard with a decent reputation would have gone the electronic route - even good old Hen Knight has a website!

Two possible explanations - she has a full yard and is not seeking further business or, alternatively, a "hard sell" which is more difficult electronically! Might just give her a ring for curiosity!

Anyway, thanks for trying

I like a challenge, I am going to try and find a few that might be of interest.

Here is an interesting link

I will see if I can find a few more

Would Alan King or Paul Webber be options if were are getting a flat horse with a view to go jumping

take a look at this site

http://www.racehorsetrainers.org/contacts/findtrainerbyalpha.asp

it is the national association and I cannot find Venetia Williams listed either under Herefordshire or under Williams. That is a bit odd isn't it?

here is Sam Thomas agent

http://www.racehorsetrainers.org/contacts/jockeydetail.asp?RecID=993

he probably has the number
