THE TWIN TOWERS

Time stopped at 1.46 p.m. that fateful day
A world gripped by an apocalyptic shock
We stared down the tv tube
The world down the cockpit of a plane
Towers and floors falling like dominoes
Hopes and limbs floating in oblivion
Emotions and buildings flatened
Tears sweat and blood entwined
In a deadly cocktail of frightening chaos
Lives running out faster than a vegas card game
Goliaths falling on davids of all shapes and sizes
An eerie calm in smothering smog
The smell of burning flesh
Pictures wallets memories and silver
Stars and badges parachute from the red sky
Five years on distrust embraces strangers still
Striking back in equal ungodly fashion
Orphans sharing the same experience
Sleeping scared under different flags
Hiding under stars and stripes
A burnt out Bush or a Bin Laden down with sin
A Blair witch project or that of a misguided fool
All sipping soup and communal fear
Which will all boil to the surface eventually
Overflowing refineries of blood
Sticking greasily to jealousy and hatred
Running intrinsically through terminals valves and hearts
Beating love and happiness through
poisoning intoxicating indecision and kamikazi choice

No one should ever forget this. Quizman, don't forget the others who died that day, at the Pentagon and Flight 93.

I would hope everyone can take some time out of their busy lives today and remember those who died.

I would agree there was a lovely woman from Cork and her beautiful
young daughter killed on the flight that was shot down,
their faces would just haunt you, it's so sad, particularly when they
knew more about it than they let on at the time.

we should also take a moment to remember the thousands of innocent arab civilians who were murdered in the hunt for WMDs, and in the U.S led bloodthirsty quest for revenge.

Very true Tafkab, 9/11 was an awful atrocity, but the Americans have slaughtered many, many Muslims in revenge, and as usual they will be forgotten today.

Let's remember ALL the casualties of this disgusting conflict, not just those in the West.

The other sad thing is there will be more people die from taking part in the clean up and searching for survivors than actually killed. This is dute to all the materials used in construction. Many turn to harmful dust or gasses. In the rush to help many volunteers didnt have proper safety masks, firms doing the clean up didnt supply proper equipment and breathing diseases are now common place due to this.
