The 2m Novice handicap hurdle at Cheltenham looks very open but a horse that I think looks sure to go well at a big price is Jocheski. The thing that most attracts me to him is the fact that the subsequent collateral form of his last 2 races over hurdles looks very good. Back in April he finished 2nd at Taunton - the first and third have since franked that form. In May, when well backed on his handicap debut, he was beaten a short head (winner was in receipt of 24lbs) in a race that has worked out exceptionally well. Every horse down to 7th in that race has gone on to show improved form (based on RPRs) subsequently. The form of this race means that to my eyes Jocheski looks on a very good mark here off just 5lbs higher. Furthermore, on his seasonal reappearance on the flat a couple of weeks ago he ran a nice race over 10f ("held up towards rear, headway on wide outside over 2f out, soon ridden and stayed on inside final furlong, nearest finish") which should have put him spot on for this. I think he should go very close today and I wouldn't put anyone off backing him for the win too, but I will be concentrating on the place market as I think he is sure to run very well and I'll be surprised if there are all that many better handicapped horses in this line up.
