Hi All,

Couldn't find a thread for this one......

Anyone got any strong fancies for this? I have to say that Arc Bleu is strongly fancied for this one assuming it gets in (i think it should no problem). It is still well handicapped and lightly raced for real since Tony got it.
Obviously Purple Moon is respected. Anyone got a strong fancy?

DD

PS - Just had an idea mods - would it be a good idea to have a continious antepost sub-forum? I looked for the ebor thread but could not find it, id be suprised though if there is not one already. I think it would be a lot easier if we had an antepost sub-forum. Feel free to knock me down though!

Hi DD - I don't think we have an Ebor thread - I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong.

An ante-post forum is worth thinking about - I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. But in the mean time I'll add the York races to the thread we have at the top for important threads so we can all find them.

I've just been reading this on the RP....

Quote:
PAUL COLE is eyeing a crack at York's totesport Ebor on Wednesday with Strategic Mount following his success at the Shergar Cup meeting.

The Montjeu four-year-old took a while to get the hang of things but rattled off a hat-trick last season before winning the fourth race of his career under Frankie Dettori last weekend.

"We were expecting far more pace last week but they all bunched up on the home turn and it turned into a sprint which isn't really his kettle of fish, he wants a fast-run mile and a half," said Cole.

"It didn't really pan out for him so I was delighted he won. Frankie couldn't have ridden him better as it didn't go to plan on the day.”

"The Ebor is the plan now. I believe the owners have had a few doubles and trebles on him so we just need a good draw and fast ground and he will run very well.”

"We know it is not an easy race to win, you need a Listed type of horse to win it as a rule," he told At The Races.
"He was a small yearling but we've always liked him so we waited for him to grow and he gradually got stronger.”

"He ran up a sequence last year. He won a big race at Goodwood then disappointed on that strange York ground so we put him away.”

"His target has always been the Ebor and he will put up a big show. Richard Quinn will ride him."

Henry Cecil has also confirmed that Tranquil Tiger is spot-on ahead of the Ebor and the trainer was pleased to see the York ground turn to good followingsome showers.

"Tranquil Tiger seems in very good order. He is on course for the Ebor and I expect him to run very well. A bit of give in the ground would help him," he told www.henrycecil.com.

Thanks FF - it might not be a bad idea - just to keep them all under the one roof.
I read that story alright in the racing post about SM. Sounds like a right plot too.

I took all the 20+ about Arc Bleu on betfair for small amounts and will continue to do so until ive had enough. Best priced 12's with the old enemy so ive taken som e/w at bigger prices earlier a couple of weeks back.

Roll on the 22nd!!

Oddschecker have Strategic Prince between 8/1 to 10/1 - I'm tempted but I'll be wanting to bet on the day so I'll wait.

I will wait. I will......

I Looked at the betting earlier and have been thinking about having an early bet on Tranquil Tiger, it seems by the report that he will be running.

A bit speculative, but i fancy Rayhani. After being gelded, won in impressive fashion on its debut this season by 4 lengths (described as being very 'fat' prior to the race and would need 2 runs to get going...). Then was tailed off at goodwood in a g2 - was on holiday at the time and have no clue what went wrong.

Speculative, but if it comes up good or quicker i might get on at decent odds

Whatever wins will have form in handicaps so my advice is to dismiss any that have been running in conditions races of whatever type...will wait for final decs before getting involved but will be interesting for the big handicap compo

Well of those guaranteed to get a run (with a maximum field of 20 I believe) I like Lake Poet from Clive Brittain (stable in form) and Group Captain from the Charlton yard. Look to have the best handicap form in the race...need to see who actually gets in..

River Alhaarth would be interesting off the same mark as last year if he gets in

Anyone know what the weather forecast is like for York next week?

I might be going Thursday and could do with knowing.

Eh, it's grim up north !!!

Looks like rain untill Tuesday then clear skies, looks like a nice day on Thursday, I've heard the ground will be good for the Ebor festival, but I guess that can change at a moments notice !!!

Have a nice time !!!

I'm spending many hours on Sky News weather... Currently raining - a little bit better tomorrow - Tuesday was expected OK but now looks a bit cloudy. York is on the edge of a cloudy patch so it might move South so 50/50 Tuesday. Sunny on Wednesday and they don't go as far as Thursday but some forecasts say same as Wednesday.

Quote:
Cloudy start to Tuesday clearing to give bright and sunny Wednesday and Thursday 21 degrees.

That's what they say on the site - Good ground.

Yep, now the final decs are in I`m having Group Captain and Lake Poet against the field.

Both of the reserves are interesting off their marks if they get in but Maorville in particular wants rain.

I would give Solent a very good chance in the Ebor at the bigger prices each way, ran well in the race 12 months ago and ran well last time at Royal Ascot, he could be better off at the weights to Hitchcock and Pevensey too.

Purple Moon - simple. 4/1 is fair.
