Shame he couldn't go out on top but I (and a lot of the U.K) will remember the joy and patriotism he brought out in the country through the summer of 2005.
His batting in the 2002/3 Ashes series in Australia was outstanding, he never really got to those heights again with the bat but was a very good England captain. Definitely the right decision to retire now, whether the injuries have caught up with him or his motivation was waning he has been a shadow of himself in the last two seasons as a batsman. I wish him a happy retirement
A real pity he couldn't go out playing in a Test like lots of former England captains before him. I sure even the Aussies would of applauded him off the field.
One of the joys of watching Vaughan was seeing his elegant cover drive.
Looks like he's going to be employed by Yorkshire in some role & hopefully he'll get as much enjoyment out of that as he did playing.
