Don't know if there are many gig-goers on here, but I'll post it up anyway. If the topic fails, hopefuly it will drop off the page quickly to hide my embarrassment

I'll go first.....

The Strokes - Reading 2002 (the first time I had ever wished I was someone famous, i.e the lead singer, Julian. If its possible to fall in love with a bloke in a non-gay way, I did during that gig)

Gomez - Liverpool Royal Court 1999 (hugely under-rated band)

Muse - Liverpool L2 2000 (much better back then, supported by a little-known Coldplay)

Razorlight - NEC 2004 (they were supporting, but were bloody ace)

Radiohead - Warrington 2000 (made me cry for the first time at a gig, and not because they were dull, before anyone starts... )

U2 - 1987 Joshua Tree tour - my first big stadium concert - I can still picture the crowd going loopy when they started Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Guns N Roses - Wembley - 90 and 91

The Dogs D'Amour supported by The Black Crows - Rock City, Nottingham - 90?

Feeling a bit old now

A know a few people in local bands, one i'm going to see on Sunday in the Battle of the Bands.

They are Recreation

Darren, The Strokes and Muse? how brilliant they are my 2 favourite bands .

The best time that I had of recent times was when we went to see The welsh band Super Furry Animals they put on a fantastic show and the audience had a great time.

I have only seen Super Furry Animals when supporting the Manics on Millennium Eve in Cardiff. I remember it (partially) being a bit surreal, but the crowd loved it.

The Strokes are quality. I saw them in Nottingham earlier this year, and dragged my 5 month pregnant wife with me. We had to leave before the end as we felt it was a bit loud, and there was too much bass for the baby to be comfortable (it was moving around loads and kicking). Now she's born, we now realise she probably liked it as she gives the impression she recognises some Strokes songs by staring at the stereo.

Have to say Muse are absolutely brilliant live, although not being one of my fav bands. seen them at about 3 or 4 festivals think their performance at V in 2001 stands out.

Other top gigs more for the top night then just the music, New Order at the Manchester Apollo in 2002 (night before watching Eng qual for the WC against Greece thanks to Becks last minute free kick), Charlatans at MEN in 98, Franz Ferdinard at Brixton in 04, Pixies same venue last year, various Primal Scream gigs and going way back James at GMEX in 90 (one of the first gigs I ever went to).

First gig I went to see was Britpop scousers, Space at Middlesbrough Town Hall (my local) in 1998. Must have put the curse on them as they did very little else after that and as far as I know have split.

Biggest gig I saw was AC/DC at Cologne stadium in 2001 (used during the World Cup, I believe). Awesome spectacle with all their props (the blow-up Rosie doll, the cannons, etc) and fireworks to end the show.

My next gig is this Friday in Middlesbrough where I'll be seeing British Sea Power. Also off to the V-festival next month.

Have also seen R.E.M, Radiohead, Travis, Divine Comedy, Delays, Queens Of The Stone Age, JJ72, Goldfrapp, The Donnas, Manic Street Preachers, Hope Of The States, Jim Noir

Hi Jo,
meant to say that I had a listen to some of their tunes and both sound really good. Thumbs up from me.

Too many to mention but immediate one's that come to mind are:

Rush (Presto tour) in the 80's Wembley arena
Bon Jovi (slippery when wet tour) Hammy odeon
Peter Gabriel (So tour) Earls Court
Marillion (dont laugh....whole weekend at Butlins in Minehead the year Rooster Booster won the Champ hurdle 4 days before and I dropped a card in to the Hobbs yard for him!)

Worst gigs

Van Morrison last year at shepherds bush empire, miserable git on stage 90 mins then buggered off, no encore or "thanks for coming" etc
Bryan Ferry (yonks ago) Wembley arena......was in a wacky phase of music....too high brow for me

Gigs I'd Looooove to go to:

Coldplay (might be a while yet!)
Linkin Park (wicked!!!)
Madonna (Legend!)

Hi Jezza

I saw Linkin Park at Manchester Apollo (?) a few years ago. Nice small venue.
They're really worth seeing - Chester's got a cracking voice.
