This forum is going down the pan. Silly little squabbles, posts locked or removed all the time.

Sort it out folks.

This was a decent forum. If I want to read arguments, I go on 606. 5-Live actually looks a better forum to talk about racing than here, lets not lose the ethos about what people set out to do.

Sorry, but my impression of what is happening.

Evening Toon - We understand what you're saying and we're working on it!

Marriages have seven year itches - forum's seem to have seven month itches.

FF,

Not moaning at you . It seems to me that there is alot of in-house squabbling for no reason. I don't understand it at all.

It seems some of you Mods are alot more 'visable' than others. I sometimes feel like I'm at school being told what to do all the time. Frustration is being taken out on each other?

Dunno, but will keep at it.

Toon

I thought you were a teacher - aren't you supposed to tell people what to do when you're at school?

Some mods are more visible than others as some of us poor souls have to work during the day.

I am a teacher, which is why I'm puzzled that supposed adults are acting worse than some of my year 9's....

I'll say "No comment" to that

But I promise we are trying to get back on track (and I don't mean AW!)

Mansfield

In an ideal world we woulf all get on with each other all the time with no squabbling!!

Unfortunately however this is not an ideal world - we have a long way to go downhill before we arrive at the anarchy that is the BBC forum.

Hopefully that day will not arrive.

Looking at that, I see no thread on the front of the board that is a wind up or otherwise. The standard of 5-live really has improved.

The beeb's had a good day - we've haven't.

I could probably do an extensive survey to proove that we have far fewer wind-up's, deleted posts and petty sqabbles over time - but how boring would that be. Life's too short.

Toon - Stick with us or try the beeb for a while or both. The choice is yours.

Toon, please excuse me, i would normally reply in a PM but since you posted here i will reply here. I am not saying you meant me when you said about some of us being more visible, but at present i can stay by the pc most of the day so it may seem that way.
Lets take your points in order. The situation we have had today was between three people, i didnt get involved, i locked a thread and explained why. The bickering carried over into another thread and i locked that too. I know some of the Admin had to remove some unsavoury posts tonight also.

We are not trying to treat people as children, we have a set of guidelines in place and are trying to get people to stick to them. If any of us move or delete a post, rest assured the poster is told why, either on the thread or if needed in a PM. I know the tidyness issue has upset some people but by and large thats working okay, when i have to lock a duplicate thread i move the post into the appropriate thread. So far no one has moaned about me doing that. The reason i lock threads when people argue is simple, its to stop a silly tit for tat row getting out of hand.
You say you dont want this board to turn out like the BBC, yet at the same time moan about locked threads and removed posts. If people posted properly and at least tried to follow the guidelines, locking posts would not be needed. A few weeks ago there was an instance between yourself and Paddydeman. You said you had posted in fun and paddy accepted that, i had made a comment then but didnt feel the need to lock the post as you guys had it sorted.
When we started talking about guidelines, you showed great interest and posted guidelines from another board, that was very helpful. The only problem is, we shouldnt need either guidelines or to enforce them.
Finally, does everyone think we like doing this, because i dont, i seem to spend more team dealing with things than actually using the boards. Which was the reason i came here in the first place.

Sorry if this is long winded but i wanted to try and give a full explaination for the whys and wherefores of what we do here.
Regards......Alan

Today was the first day I hadn't posted on here in a long while (had other things to do for once!), and I have to say, thank God! - petty squabbling insults, posts locked for VERY little obvious reason (one of them was only slightly riské), I thought I was back on the BBC board!
Not only that, I felt quite a few of you were well out of order picking on one member in particular.
In short, I'm seriously thinking of leaving this board now.

Not fun anymore.

Hi johnnio - I can only say to you what I said to Toon.
We understand what you are saying - we're working on it - there are obviously other sites you can use if you no longer want to post on here.
