Something seriously needs to be done about Britains youth yob culture. This tragic story is becoming ever more frequent.

Quote:
Grandfather dies confronting gang
A 62-year-old man collapsed and died after confronting a group of youths he caught breaking into a neighbour's car.

James Barrett was babysitting his grandchildren when he heard the gang break the window of a car outside his house in Anfield, Liverpool.

He ran out to chase the youths away and followed them down Bingley Road, but collapsed in nearby Priory Road.

He was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital where he died just before midnight on Friday.

Merseyside Police are hunting the gang of about five youths and said a full investigation was under way.

It is not yet clear whether any of the youths struck Mr Barrett.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends, who will remember him for his kindness, generosity and warmth
The Barrett family

But Det Ch Supt Peter Currie, leading the inquiry, said one of the youths was seen to "run by him from behind".

He said there was no obvious injuries on Mr Barett's body, but a post-mortem examination would be carried out on Saturday.

His family said: "We are completely shocked and devastated by this.

"Jim was a wonderful man who would do anything for anyone.

"As well as being a wonderful father, husband and granddad he was a true Liverpool supporter, with a real love of football.

"He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends, who will remember him for his kindness, generosity and warmth."

Mr Barrett leaves a wife, Mary, and two sons who live in the local area.

Mr Currie said Mr Barrett was just doing the "neighbourly thing" when he went to investigate the smashing glass.

"There was a group of youths outside. It looked like they threw a brick through the car window," he added.

Mr Barrett pursued the youths for about 100 yards before he collapsed, Mr Barrie added.

Merseyside Police said the scene was cordoned off after the incident for a detailed forensic investigation. They are treating the case as a major inquiry.

A spokeswoman said five or more youths were involved, all aged between 13 and 15. They were wearing tracksuits and some were in hooded tops.

Officers are appealing for information from anyone who saw the incident or might know the identity of the youths involved.

Jej

I started reading your piece, just waiting for an address in Liverpool to pop up!!

It is a disgrace and of course it is a plague that effects the whole country rather than just those cheeky scousers.

There used to be a gang that hung out near my Grandad's who was 80 at the time. One night they thought it would be fun to keep knocking on his door and then running off. He phoned me up and I popped round, by then they had moved 100 yards away. I went up to the ringleader who was sneering at me like they do, garbbed hold of em, through him into the nearest hedge and then whispered in his shell like that I was not going to hit him now, but that from the age of 17 on he should keep lokking over his shoulder. Its fair to say he pooped his pants! He said he was going to call the police, but as there wasnt a mark on him, I just said my word against his and and his 10 loony mates, so who was going to believe them! My Grandad never got another ounce of bother.

I guess in a long winded way, what I am saying is that scum need to be treated like scum and frightened like they frighten others, and we has individuals should have the right to clear scum from our localities, cos my experience is that Plod is scared witless to do it for us.

Sorry about that rant, but the yob culture is my pet hate, to end all pet hates.

Is it just me or maybe I'm a tad old fashoned but children today
have everything they materially desire, probably too much
and lack the core values of respect and good behaviour.
I recently had to tell a group of youngsters( 8-12) that
it was 1am and would they mind going home.
It starts from that age, a lot of them are just fed and
left to their own resources, having said that there are
good kids too. Two young lads about 13 deliver papers
in my area at 6.30 in the morning. They are always
polite and mannerly and will indeed go far IMHO.

I have said it before on similar threads.... You reap what you sow.... Kids are a reflection of their parents.. That is where the problem lies, not with government, teachers or the police.... Punish the parents as well as the little gits that do these terrible things........ Some parents don't give a toss what their kids get up to............

It's a gradual deterioration of society. What happens is, the runt of a litter breeds with another runt of another litter, then their runt, breeds with another runt, and so on, and so on...

...and this is the result.

I think that instead of sentencing these thugs, what they should do is to give the men vasectomies and the females hysterectomies, that way we cut the root problem off at the source.

Somebody make me Prime Minister!!!
