I know we have the 'Off Topic' forum where we can discuss news/current affairs etc but i was thinking that it might be a good idea if we had a totally separate forum for discussion of news (politics/finance/current affairs etc etc).
I think it merits it's own forum because the Off Topic forum, much as i love it, is essentially often quite light hearted and any serious discussion can often get dilluted by threads like 'Favourite chocolate bar, 'X Factor', 'Jokes' etc etc (I have no problem with these by the way, i enjoy them!).
I enjoy having quite serious discussions about current affairs etc and i just think these discussions may flourish more if they had their own place as people who also enjoy discussing these issues could also go there to specifically discuss them.
Anyway, just a thought. If the powers that be could let me know what you think it would be appreciated. Cheers, Owl

Mods and admin have had a look at your idea, and the general consensus is that as this is specifically a sports/betting forum, Off Topic provides enough space for people to debate any issue that arises. Setting up a specific news/current affairs forum would tend to dilute this forum's focus a bit, so on balance we are against the idea. I'm sure there are many excellent forums for debating news, politics and so on so maybe you could help us by finding a couple of good ones we can direct people to if they are interested.
If there's any support for the idea from other members, we'll of course think again.
