10 October RacingThought I'd start this as I have picked up a few unconsidered trifles of information (not insider, available to the general public!) and offered for what they are worth (probably not much!)
In the first at Chepstow today Kilshannig goes for Jonjo O'Neill in a novices' hurdle, ridden by his conditional R P McLernon. Now nothing remarkable about that, you might say, except that Kilshannig has been bought out of/sent over from (not sure which, SL form doesn't include change of ownership, if any) John Oxx's yard, after a medium Flat career including a win at Dundalk on the sand in an 11f handicap back in May 2008. He hasn't raced for ages (385 days to be exact) which argues that he has had a problem.
Now all this doesn't necessarily mean he will win, or even get a place, but the other thing to note is that he is by Galileo out of an Ela Mana Mou mare....so a few (very few) of Jen's pennies are going on him e/w.
At Bangor in the 1520 Carte Diamond, probably better know for his Flat exploits (including a November Handicap win), is going in a handicap hurdle - it is not of course his first foray into hurdling, and he won a juvenile novices' at Musselburgh a while ago, as well as being PU in a Triumph Hurdle. I'm not sure yet if Jen's pennies will be going on this one.
Look out for Tempsford in the 1420 at Bangor.
Lastly, I have had an e/w Lucky 15 at Chepstow today:
1345: Kilshannig
1430: Galaxy Rock
1535: Beta the Boys
1610: Mission Control
Cappa Bleu (Foxhunter winner) was due out this weekend, but has not stayed in either at Chepstow or Bangor.
Have a good day everyone!

Just going to copy and paste from Word my bets for the day:
| Quote: | 10/10/2009
Sole Power - £25 WIN @ 10/1 (Bet365)
Dhaular Dhar - £25 E/W @ 14/1 (Stan James)
Dorback - £25 WIN @ 9.8 (Betfair)
Opinion Poll - £25 WIN @ 8/1 (William Hill)
Mullein - £25 WIN @ 9/1 (Ladbrokes)
Lucky 15 - £2 WIN: Triple Aspect 6/1, Opinion Poll 7/1, Dhaular Dhar 14/1, Green Manalishi 8/1 (£30 - Betfred)
Lucky 15 - £2 WIN: Dorback 8/1, Sole Power 10/1, Triple Aspect 7/1, Quadrille 7/4 (£30 - Betfred)
Scoop 6 - £8 (Totesport)
Placepot - £2 (Totesport)
|
Struggling to split Triple Aspect and Mullein in the Ascot sprint. Think one of these will take it. Got a nice price on Dhaular Dhar @ 14/1. No bigger than 10s now.

| YAIYAM wrote: | I really like the look of Arthur Moore's Hepburn Bell today in the 3:25 @ Fairyhouse. From the horses in the race that raced on the flat you would have to say he was definately the best of them getting ratings of 70+ both sides of the water, the step up to 18F could suit as his last run on the flat was over 16F @ Dundalk and on his last hurdles run over 16F he was staying on to some effect after having some Interference a couple out. With his rating over hurdles only being 87 you have to think there is much more Improvement to come and in a race of this standard it is hard to see him not making the first 4.
His sire Intikhab has a near 20% strike rate at Fairyhouse in hurdle races on good ground and over the last 5 seasons Moore has a similar strike rate at the track with his hurdlers.
At 14/1 best price to me he is definately worth a bet 1/4 first 4 E/W or if the numbers go below 16 a strong place bet on Betfair |

Looks to look at today:
Bound to be a few upsets on the Flat with late season races!
I really fancy Celtic Sultan E/W in the 2.05 at York. Stated to slip down the ratings & showed up well for along way last time. Taken 20/1.
I think Coolmix may well win the 3.10 boasting good form.
I've got the 3.45 down to Quest For Success & Hogmaneigh & can see the both being in the frame.
I think Aldaadro will win the 4.55 although Starla Dancer is a worthy E/W bet at 20/1.
I think [/b]King Fingal will win the 5.30. With Goodwood Starlight E/W at 25/1.
Ascot:
Very tricky meeting today but:
Sole Power - 2.15 Royal Rock Awinnersgame E/W - 2.55 Classic Vintage Coin Of The Realm E/W -3.30 Dubawi Phantom - 4.40 Mutamaashi - 5.15 Triple Dream Whiskey Junction E/W - 5.50 will pay their way!
Nice to see some decent jumping at Chepstow: 2.30 - Clyfee Hanger may well go well for our local trainer. Dantari E/W in the same race

I am looking at low draws in the sprints at York today. There was a definite bias yesterday, with the places in the 5f sprint being filled by those drawn 1,2 & 3. Green Manalishi is second fav and drawn 4, I am expecting either good things or a disaster.

Adding:
Beckermet: £25 TBP @ 17/2 (PP)
Rank outsider but has been dropped to 90, drawn stall 1 which is good at York over 7f for a front runner. Also a big plus that his pace rivals are drawn 16,18,20 and so he may get his own way in front.

Poor old Carte! I really fancied him for Penzance's Triumph Hurdle but he completely boiled over at the start - held up the race for a while, wasn't doing my blood pressure any good! I think he could be excused that race as he was cooked before the tapes went up.
It would be nice to see him run well, and maybe if he can get his own way in front...

Quiet day today, just a couple of small bets to keep the eye in before next Saturday...
York 2:40 Mykingdomforahorse Keeps stepping up with improvements each time & plenty to like. Quite like Murcar too but otherwise not a terribly strong race.
York 3:15 Plenty of exposed types here and one of them might well get it however Sunnandaeg represents amazing value (22-1 betfair) given that he's effectively won both of his starts, the latter impressively (probably beat trees). I'll give him a go for interest's sake.
Ascot 3:30 Apparently all about whether Class is Class is good enough, but Record Breaker and Pevensey will give him something to think about. The latter has been improving again of late and doesn't need to improve much on his last run to win. Goes well on course and distance and might not quite get there if dropped out but hopefully he'll get a stiff pace and mow home.
Good luck everyone.
PT
PS 6/4 about England to beat a depleted Ukraine away from home is the value bet of the day....

I know you've backed this horse a couple of times before recently Owl, so I've followed you in today hoping that this is the race he wins. Hope I've not put the kiss of death on him.
Got a stinking cold atm and can't be arsed to read form so going to copy a few of the board's selections today. Hope that's okay?
Good luck!

There's no quality hoprses on show, it's all group 3's comprising of horses who have no chance of winning a classic next season and handicaps with second raters in them. The jumps racing is not a lot better either.
I guess being sandwiched betwen the arc and champions weekends means it's always going to be a difficult day.

Held up right out the back of a slow pace, then finishes well under a pretty tender drive to miss 3rd by a short head Might well have been just about the best horse in the race imo given how it panned out

Checklow doesn't look without a chance in the 5-15 here 17.0 looks very generous given the race, small saver on Tartan Gunna.

Yes, and I also think we get spoilt at this time of year; same thing happens in July. There's got to be somewhere for the "lesser" horses to go that isn't Catterick on a wet Wednesday in August or the sand at Wolves. At least owners get to run their lesser lights at places like York and Ascot. And I will give you money that you wouldn't be saying that about the jumps cards either, even if it is early in the season, if some of the entries had stayed in - I suspect that for many the ground was wrong.

I've only got funds in my Bet365/WillHill accounts atm and can't find anything that would resemble Santa Anita (Oakland isn't on either). Can't get my head round this thought it would of been pretty straight forward
