and then there were none

Liverpool, often considered to be a two man team, nust do without their entire team (Gerard and Torres) for their trip to in form blunderland tomorrow

given the fixed odds coupons will be in the shops this must make sunderland the bargain of the weekend?
Darren

Hahahaha, as an Everton fan, I know better than to think they will lose. Shame its only for one game, as I always argue that without those two, they are a mid-table team.

Some teams can cope for six months without their three best players......

Still think they can go to Sunderland and get something though.

perhaps what they will "get"is "beaten" (or "beat" as they would say on Sky)

I love it when Paul Merson is one of the four "watchers" on Soccer Saturday. His grasp of the English language is exceptionally poor.

Thought exactly the same... lay liverpool? I can see Sunderland getting at least a point as LIverpool's only top players are now defensive ones (Reina and Masc)...

First of all I would say Liverpool are more a three man team and the keepers fit tommorrow so and there was none becomes theres one left imho .
Would i touch Liverpool tommorrow at best price evens ,now way my names value seeker not loser.
As you can see Ive put Darren Bent up for first goal even before I found out they were out.
Carraghers legs have gone ,great servant but it comes too us all ,Im sure Paisley would have dropped him by now and maybe moved him on .
Always remember Phil Thompson going the say way ,he went dowhill really rapidly.
One worry I would have backing Sunderland is benayoun ,with a certain start he could turn Sunderland inside out and I now will be checking on Kuyts price for first goal as he will now end up the main man to score at now a value price with most firms.
Mascherano,Insua and Lucas are due back this afternoon ,Raffa is keeping his fingers crossed they return fit from international duty .
Feel Mascherano is throwing the dummy out the pram at present with Raffa not letting him go to Barcelona ,I am not expecting a great season from him and reckon he will be gone next close season.
Lucas well I could go on forever,so better go  .
Liverpool lay probably the best bet ,reckon a draw imho.
Owl of Minerva

Sunderland have been backed already so some value gone but 3/1 still looks good to me

Will have a nice single and a small double with Pompey @ 7/2

Also Bent E/W @ 7/1 (1/3, anytime) first scorer is super value

I am not enjoying all these people talking us up against Liverpool - doesn't feel right and proper.

I personally expect Liverpool to give us a hiding
shamardal84

Going well so far. Heard its kicking off between Bruce and Benitez, handbags on the touchline. Odds 1/50 Bruce - Bentiez 100/1

Boylesport have decided to pay out on the 90 minute draw, the draw-draw double result and those who backed no goalscorer.

No more than a publicity stunt, Liverpool were awful and Sunderland should have scored three or four. What was Benitez thinking playing three at the back ?

I agree.  Not a chance Liverpool can threaten the title with that squad - so many players were very average.  How can a manager as good as Benitez is supposed to be have players of the standard that we saw yesterday in the squad.  Surely Benitez must be on borrowed time?

BTW - we were not at our best yesterday either!

Havent seen the match as I was working but my red mates agree with most of the comments on the forum ,that we were awful and should have been beat by two or three.
What I did see though was the Sunderland goal on skysports news yesterday and imho feel it should not have been given as it was going straight at the keeper before being diverted off the red balloon.
Before I get the usual abuse that I am a Liverpool supporter and Im bound to say that ,remember I put Bent up as the first goalscorer and gained a fair bit financially from the incident.
Any other opinions on whether the goal should have stood?

Derren Browns making a programme about how he did it.

The powers that be said it should have been disallowed as the beach ball was an "outside agent" just like, for instance, a spectator running on and deflecting it into the goal, but it shows how sad we are when no one from our team had the intelligence to kick it out of play long before it happened.

Didn't something similar happen in a Man City game either last season or the season before when the ball hit a balloon or two on the way into the net. That goal stood too.

Sheff Utd 2 Man City 1 (Jan 2008)
Sheffield Utds opening goal against City came with some assistance from the visiting supporters at Bramall Lane.
Lee Martins cross took a deflection off a couple of balloons lying in Joe Harts penalty area ,wrongfooting defender Michael Ball ,and striker Shelton sidefooted home.

Sunderland beat us fair and square.

The one consolation to take out of the game is that now at least the North East has a football team to be proud of. Sunderland play with skill, passion and endeavour, and the manager displays integrity and honesty,  a refreshing change from the disgraceful shenanigans the area has had to put up with in recent times.

just to elaborate, the majority of NUFC supporters are jealous of the set up at blunderland, no doubt

An owner who has cme in with good intentions, taking over from a consortium that also had the right idea and knew when they couldnt take the club further due to financial limitations but didnt just sell to anyone

a fabulous chairman whose PR skills are exceptional and who has given the club a level of dignity and standing which was scarcely considered likely a few years ago (ask the ir fans about bob murray)

a manager (the second in a row) who has been backed with hard cash and who has (again) replaced players with better ones; Keane 9despite his liitatins) took tehm from div2 yoyo to premier league survivors and bruce has moved them up a gear with some very good buys and good coaching.

you wont get ay srgument from most newcastle fans about any of that, so Im afraid the line has some poor bait on it

we know whats wrong with our club, don't dout it for a moment. It consists, mainly of a fat bloke in charge who took over from another of the same ilk.

Not sure if you are responding to my one liner or not.  I was not baiting, rather I was smiling at the comments of a Liverpool fan about how my club and team have performed.
