Well It's upon us folks. No Home Nations in it but, with the exception of Scotland who put up a brave fight in the group of death, we only have ourselves to blame!
First of all, who will win it? I will be very suprised if the answer to this isn't Germany! They are the best team in the world let alone Europe and I have been backing them for a while now at various different odds and I've already got a couple of small bets on them to win the World Cup in two years time! The World Cup is not so certain as it is in South Africa & they could be affected by the heat. However, Austria & Switzerland are just about as close as you can get to Germany without actually being in Germany and they will have no problems with climate. They will also bring an army of fans with them so every game they play will feel like a home game and, from a punting perspective, should be treated as one. 4/1 is available pretty much across the board and should be taken.
If you want a bit more of a long shot, you can get a massive 70/1 on Poland to win it. They will need a bit of luck but, if they get it, that 70/1 could look like an insult in a week or two's time. I have also backed Poland at odds of 150/1 ante post.
Ok so that is the outrights done with. I will be updating this thread at regular intervals(although maybe not as regular as I would like as I'm in the process of looking for somewhere to live at the moment & that is taking up a lot of my time) but I only have one match I am interested in from a betting angle at the moment. It is The Netherlands vs Italy & I think the Netherlands are a cracking bet at 11/5 with Bet365. Here are two teams who are pretty inconsistent and the phrase 'it depends what team turns up' can be applied to both. OK if they're playing Moldova or someone they don't need to be at their best admittedly but when they play each other, anything can happen and 11/5 on an 'anything can happen' match is a hell of a price.
Regular updates will follow
