BACK TO LAY BETTING

I have backed Resounding Glory at 140/1 to win the Triumph Hurdle, just to a £20 win stake.

If the odds fall to say £50/1 I would like to recoup my stake, how do I do this and do I have to have sheds of money in my Betfair account?

Hi Jet, You can lay a bet against any money you have to come, so you dont need loads of cash in the account.

In this case, you stand to win £2800, so the most you can lay at 50/1 is £56.... 50 x 56 = 2800

Go to the Betfair page for that race. click the box marked back and lay.

Click the lay box ( Pink )
Enter 50 where it says backers odds ( this is actually 49/1 )
Enter 20 where it says backers stakes
You will see it show you have a liability of £980

If you are happy click enter.
The amount you are due to lose will be deducuted from the amount you are due to win.

Alan,

Thanks for the response I think I understand it. Would that mean then that if it loses I break even and if it wins i win £1820?

If so this is a right result and something I may look at doing fairly often.

Thanks

Jet you are correct about the free bet, as it where. You will get a bet at the difference between the price you back at, and the price you lay at.

My only advice is to take what you feel happy wirh, and above all remember that the antepost bet ends prior to the two day decs. So you need to lay off before then.

Good luck, and thanks for the tip about Blue Shark

Alan,

Thanks again for the info.

I think Blue Shark ran a bit with the choke out and was far too keen. He dropped away like a stone so I think the next time he runs should be a good time to be on him.
