Bald Fred (sorry )Betfred world snooker championships

Tips ,pre tournament feelings ,feedback and in running thoughts on the world championships about to start this weekend
Flipando

I'll obviously backing John Higgins for the win.  I love that boy.  So so much.

I'd be surprised if Ronnie won, although the thing about the longer frame matches is that you're allowed a bad session and it's very rare to see Ronnie have 2 consecutive bad sessions.  A bad session in a best-of-9 match means game lost but in the 19 frame matches it's not such a big deal. Even so, I'd be surprised if he won and at the odds I wouldn't even recommend him as a bet to my worst enemy.  Maguire's had a poor season but managed to amass a few ranking points through doing well in the 'bigger' tournaments. He's too inconsistent for me.  Selby's had a shocking season, as has Murphy (UK Championships aside).  Ali Carter and Neil Robertson have been playing well all year and I wouldn't put anyone off backing them.  Peter Ebdon comes in after winning the China Open, but my bet for the tournament is the 7-time world champion Stephen Hendry.  Yes, he's been playing gash for a long time now but in the last 2 tournaments there's been glimmers of life there, he even got to the quarter-finals of the China Open 2 weeks ago where it took a very much in-form Peter Ebdon to stop him.

Bets:

John Higgins @ 12/1 (Because I actually think I may be in love with the man)
Stephen Hendry @ 66/1

I may chance a little on Neil Robertson as well at 25/1 at some point.

I fancy one of the far east boys to do well at decent odds and I'm going for speculative punt on Marco Fu. To me the bottom half looks a lot easier than the top....
Machiavellian

I've backed Jamie Cope to beat Joe Perry.

i don't bet on snooker but LOVE watching it and am a massive o'sullivan fan so i'll be supporting him.

value seeker, please, i'm asking nicely, stop using emoticons out of context. i can't understand half your posts anyway, but when you put a rolling eyes man or a wink at the end of a sentence where it doesn't fit, i re-read it 3 times trying to imagine what tone you might be using and how it could possibly fit AND IT NEVER DOES.
millsy

Have gone for a treble on Higgins, Murphy and Ebdon.

Hope Davis can beat Robertson!

Actually this VS in the little room.

OK so I'm going to the holy grail today to see my absolute life hero for the first time in person.  I haven't slept a wink, I'm absolutely buzzing.  Problem is, I feel awful, my tongue is ORANGE and I can't swallow a thing.  I'll man up though..

Allen putting it up to O'Sullivan
johnnio

So, so happy that arswipe O'Sullivan's packing his bags and going home. Hate the man with a passion, no class, no dignity and no World title this year.

Only 2 people can win this year?

My arse!
ngreggors

That 66/1 about Hendry is looking a bit tasty now!
I'm on for small stakes so won't be looking to lay off until the semis at least.
Flipando

Well that's given the market a bit of a shake up.  Fair play to Mark Allen, completely and totally deserved to win, well done.

In other news, I fully reccommend going to the crucible. Fantastic venue, and as my Dad said "What theatre!!"  May even see if I can get hold of any tickets for tomorrow evening.  Come on John! (and Hendry, isn't he doing well?!?)
Flipando

What an absolutely spanking game of snooker that was.  Wow.

It's a bit of a shame you didn't read his actual quote.

Ronnie O'Sullivan believes either he or John Higgins will win this year's World Championship if they find top form.

The world number one, aiming for a fourth Crucible crown, says only he and the Scot "can find an extra gear when needed" under the greatest pressure.

"We are probably the only two players that have the ability to do that," he told BBC Sport. "If we find our form, then it will be between me and John.

"If we don't find our game, then any one of 10 or 12 players can win it."

Far easier to just condemn people, for no particular reason.

Flipando's Hendry bet looks better & better. Good start against Murphy and just banged in a 147.
Solerina

Hendry gone

Good curse!!
kickingkyle

I think the winner comes from the Selby Higgins match, both playing fantastic.
Flipando

So it's a Murphy-Higgins final. Come on John!

They both struggled to see out their respective semi-finals, it could be a long final
Jimbob

I hope Murphy can pull this back(although don't think he can). For one I would like to see a close final and secondly I've always liked Murphy. One of the few players to speak out against Ronnie o'Sullivan and his disgraceful antics and I think he's shown amazing strength of character this week.
kickingkyle

Well that was easy enough, deserved the win in m opinion.
Jimbob

I only saw tonights session but you can't argue with a score like that. Having said I wanted Murphy to win, I've nothing against Higgins and think he probably does deserve it. Well done John
Flipando

Probably the best day of my life since May 1998.

Wow.
kickingkyle

Is there something going on FLip?
