Betfair's Download to Spreadsheet OptionIt's a great feature
After studying my last three months of figures on the horses I've worked out that I should never make a to be placed bet ever again or bet on foreign races.
I wasn't surprised about the foreign races betting as I hardly ever bet in France or on the US racing, I'll definately stop doing it in future. I generally bet on the Arc with high street bookies any how.
On the to be placed markets, I never realised I was throwing money away on them. My success rate on them is really poor But at least I know now.
Looking at the figures I should stick to betting at Newmarket, Folkestone, Chester and Brighton and avoid like the plague Hamilton, Southwell, Haydock and Worcester.
It has been a real eye opener looking at the figures, would recommend any betfair users to check it out and see if they can improve their punting with the information it keeps for you. It took me about 4 hours to analyse it but hopefully over the next 3 months it will be time well spent.
Anybody else analysed their betfair data ? Found any interesting facts about their punting ?

Havent done that through betfair but notice a patern with my bettign in general and tracks. I should avoid handicaps like the plague and love novice chasers and hurdlers.

First I've seen of it, thanks for noting it!
But because of the way I punt, and the reasons why I punt, I already know pretty much what I am good at (and what I can manage to break even, or possibly even make a profit, on); and what I am bad at and do anyway because I like a bit of fun.
I am good at (meaning I make careful assessments, am restrained, swerve a bet If I don't feel the price is right, don't bet for the sake of it):
hunter chases (doesn't matter which course)
place only NH only (ditto)
NH generally (buit not that much better that it makes a real difference)
I am bad at (meaning I bet on impulse, bet on races I have no knowledge/background in, bet a horse because I like the price, not because I think it'll win, bet on something for fun, rather than sticking to what I know best):
The Flat
Cheltenham Festival
Ante post betting
Short priced win bets (because I am not interested in something that appears not to be a challenge, even if it is!)
I'll look at the Betfair info with interest - but it is probably more useful for people who take their punting a very great deal more seriously than I do!

Sounds pretty Interesting and i suppose it could help if you wanted to concentrate on the type of races/sports you have been doing well on but as with always it comes back to disciplin as you may find there are 6 types of events you are good on but it will only work if you stick to those 6.
I have probably bet less this year than for quite some time which are down to certain things but I have said it before as long as my main minus Betfair figure on the account is getting bigger then I believe what i am doing is working and will carry on as i am then again for racing I do tend to change how & what i bet on year after year maybe I just like a new challenge with racing

Totally agree about discipline, Yaiyam. My betting on the Flat is mainly "social" and I am prepared to write off the (modest) losses, if there are any, and there usually are.
Come the NH season, I am more disciplined (but probably not enough). I seem to be getting a bit better at handicap hurdles and chases, although I do by far the best at hunter chases. So maybe in the next season I will do a bit more on the handicaps - but hunters are my "bread and butter" so I will stick with them.
