Favourite Course

Played the Belfry (Brabazon) on Tuesday....what a course!

Got me thinking, what's the best course you've ever played?

Have been lucky enough to have played some fine courses over here.

Have played both k club courses, druids glen, fota island, european club, royal county down and carton house.

Its hard to pick a favourite as the weather conditions when you play a course make a big difference to how much you enjoy your round.

If pushed I would go for Druids Glen.

Wentworth - west course.

Gowran Park, it's an absolute gem.

if you are ever in Ayrshire .. I recommend that you have 18 Holes around Belleisle golf course in Ayr...

Always in good condition. It's one of the nicest Parkland courses in the UK.. and well worth a visit....

I suppose in strict terms the best course I have played would be Troon

the most enjoyable course was Newcastle, County Down which is also very very good.

I suppose that one on the south downs for excercise but that one on Paradise Island for pure beauty. (although that was about 25 years ago)

5th green, if memory serves, right up next to white sand beach ringed by coconut trees and the atlantic as a backdrop.

Rumour has it the golden bear is the only player to ever hole it in one.

I'm playing Ballybunion and Killarney over the next 4 days, really looking forward to it.

If anyone has played these courses.....any tips would be welcome.

Bring plenty of balls for Ballybunion

Killarney is parkland so you'll be fine there

Wise words indeed.

If I played Ballybunion again, I think I'd just bring a 7 iron, sandwedge and a putter.....I felt like a bloody mountain goat by the end of the round, having spent most of my time hiking around the dunes. Cracking course mind.

Killarney was very nice. Played the two along by the lake. I'd happily play both of those week in week out.

Fairly windy at Ballybunion. Felt as though I'd been sandblasted by the end of the round.

A bit of rain around on the other days, and the courses had taken a fair bit of water. No real problems with the weather mind.

I wouldn't mind playing Mount Juliet the next time I get over.

I'd imagine the rough at Ballybunion must have been lush enough as the seniors Irish open is there in 2 weeks.

Mount Juliet is fab, if you come over to play it make sure you play Gowran park as well. Less than 10 miles between both.

I'm playing a new course this weekend. Place called Castlemartyr in Cork. It's an Inland links supposedly.
