Greyhound of the Year - RESULT Spiridon Louis

In the meantime vote for either Barnfield On Air or Spiridon Louis in our own online poll where you will win nothing  

I'm voting for Louis because he has won more races this year and that really is it in a nutshell.  The fact that he is trained and is owned by women is not influencing my decision at all.

Barnfield On Air should win as well though really.  The whole thing is most vexatious   In my poll I am going to put a share option in!

Although there are many wonderful hounds thatgraced and uplifted 2007 with their consistent athleticism, most fans are agreed that the title lies somewhere between Spiridon Louis and Barnfield On Air. In an attempt to split the two I went to the Stow on Racing Post finals night and having re-run events in my mind in the weeks since then I am still torn. Louis has 18 wins to Jack's 16 in 2007 but Jack holds more track records where I believe Louis holds more titles and is black and white, but BOA is black. Feeble, I know!

I give up. Toss a coin, chop the trophy in half? My head says that Barnfield On Air is the fastest dog, I saw him and he truly is a coiled spring and ping does not even begin to cover what he is doing and yet, my heart. Well my heart says the fastest does not always win the most races and given that fact, I believe we should reward Spiridon Louis, that most industrious and yet imperious greyhound and crown him this year.

As if i couldnt tell. I fell of the chair laughing at the comment about Louis being black. I also emailed so we will see if that gets posted as well.

Well in our comprehensive poll of 4!  Louis and BOA were 2 and 2.

In the real thing last night Louis got it!

Im so glad Louis won it, looking back it made my letter to the RP better than yours. I phoned them today and they said you should send me the champers !!!

Seems a shame Barney had to lose though - did you see he ran a mega fast two bend trial at the Stow last week?
