No won't be doing anything as think it's another tacky imported American sham.

Seconded.
One good thing does come out of it though. There are always loads of fun size chocolate bars left in our house as I always overbuy for those pesky trick or treaters. Might also have something to do with me switching all the lights off and pretending we're out!!

haloween here and in north america are totally incomparable.
when i was 9 or 10 and living in Canada my parents said we wouldn't take part in haloween (church of england folks, not keen on the ghoulishness of it all). then our neighbours came round and asked if we had any plans - when my parents said no they were horrified! they explained what a big deal it is out there and my parents softened their stance. it is unreal out there! every single kid gets dressed up in great outfits and the parents really go to town. then all the young kids and parents go out trick or treating together and get given sweets by the sack full. it's a great night and i remember it fondly - everyone was so friendly.
compare that to haloween over here - a spotty 16 year old ringing your doorbell and basically demanding protection money...

I'm having a 1990s party at my flat (the date just ended up being one most of my mates could do). I shall be wearing a long patchwork skirt, Nirvana hoodie, DMs with red laces and grooving to MC Hammer, The Shamen and countless one hit wonders (Charles & Eddie, Crash Test Dummies, Whigfield etc). We'll be drinking Hooch, Two Dogs and Bacardi Breezers.

All the bookies staff have been asked to go into work a week on Saturday in costume.
I have politely declined to get dressed up but have said i will mould my testicles into the shape of a pumpkin, without the candle, and place them on the counter.

Kid in a scream mask came up to me yesterday on the street with a bucket and said 'Trick or Treat' - 'It's the 20th of October you little ****, and i'm walking down the street, do one'. Can't stand it.

I sort of wish we made a much bigger thing of Halloween - at least then the shops might not put Christmas displays out until it was over

I'm not a fan of Halloween for lots of reasons I won't go into you'll be pleased to know. Having said this, I am supposed to be attending a Halloween Party this year. I may also go to HQ for their last meeting of the season in the daytime but I fear it might be a bit tacky. I don't want to see my beloved Rowley Mile decked out in cheap ghastly tack

Seriously? DMs with coloured laces were very cool in 1990s Dorset- I also had white and purple, but red seem to be the only ones left in my parents' loft.

Red laces means you've shed the blood of a non white, apparently

Lordy mama, will have to find some others then. A friend of mine had tartan ones at one point. Class.

Halloween is my favourite night of the year after new years eve. Lighten up everyone and have some fun.
I'm going to see one of my favourite bands, shpongle, at the Roundhouse in Camden, they always do something cool on Halloween. Can't wait.
Zombies, ghouls and skulls everywhere, love it.

the power of google hey papa
that's kind of them, the musicians you can see are session musicians for the gig though.
this is really them http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve...gle+Live+in+Concert+SIRAJTaDa.jpg
or better still http://zay.3base.info/kartinki/Shpongle.jpg
and yeah GG it's a great venue, one of the best in london, a bit tricky to set the sound up properly in though due to it's odd shape, but it's now a superb building.

Sorry but I have never heard of them, sounds like my loss, but google is so deep you never know what you can find if you search enough, and a picture usually paints a thousand words. But in this case only one.....Wrong.

It's my birthday the day before (every year funnily enough) so I don't give a stuff about it as have far more important things to do, such as nurse a hangover.

I have bought a load of funsize chocolate, and my 3 year old will be dressing up at nursery for a party.
Let kids be kids and enjoy themselves, for Gods sake.
(It does make a difference that the kids are nice where I live though)

You should have seen the queue of people outside the fancy dress shop near where I work earlier. People get really into Halloween these days.

Thanks John, and as suspected, I had one too many libations last night so Rowan's post was not far off the mark.
Quiet one tonight and hopefully the door wont keep getting rattled by Trick or Treaters!
