International Weekend Racing (CaulfieldCup/Canadian et al)Anybody taking a look at these races in australia and canada this weekend?
Im abit blind with these ones but i see Cumani,Godolphin,Balding and Gosden to name the main players are on internatinal missions this weekend.
Starting with the Caulfield Cup in Melbourne i do know that European runners in races over 10F down under are to be backed blind as the class difference is usually considerable with the euros well handicapped. Both Kirklees and Cine De Triuomph are 7/1 joint favourites. They may even pay more on the aussie tote which you can back through betfair. Any thoughts ?
Gosden has got Rainbow View running in the EP Taylor stakes at woodbine in Canada. The winner of this race gets an automatic entry into the breeders cup filly and mare turf. Shes an 13/8 fav and i take it they are running to win and get that entry ? Gosden having lived and worked in the states has a good record there and will no doubt be a force with his entries come the breeders meet so its hard to think Rainbow View will lose this race. Look here and Lahaleeb are the other british entries. Any thoughts ?
Buccaletti 7/1 looks the standout performer in the Canadian over 12f ? Balding has sent them to canada and the states before and won. He should know the place well given his family history and connections.
Anybody know much about these races at all ? Ive not really got a clue other than the foreign tipbit knowledge i have which is sometimes more than enough to have a bet.
Boards thoughts ?

Lenahan, thank you thank you thank you.
I hadn't realised the Canadian was this weekend.
Get on Buccellati! The run in France was just a prep after his slight injury at Epsom, he'll be spot on for this race now and is a Grp 1 horse for sure.
I'm legging it to Ladbrokes now!

Nooooooooooooo Problem.
Ive just had a check up and the winner of this also gets a guaranteed breeders entry. For the breeders cup turf. Balding has also won this race before in 2003. In fact European(mostly british) trainers and there horses have won this 11 times in the last 20 years.

i was looking through the canadian racing yesterday buccellati is 10-1 morning line price and this will have a huge chance, has been trained for this.... i feel jukebox jury is one to take on at around 3s..... in the fillies race rainbow view will be hard to beat but is too short at around 11-10 , i will be backing lahaleeb at 12-1 morning line i think it will drift on the day and be around 20-1

The two European horses have been given good draws in the Caulfield Cup & both boast decent form in top races & maybe the ones to beat.
I'm going for the NZ horses Daffodilwho also has a good draw. Maybe a bit unknown out side his homeland & therefore may go off at a nice price.

Kirklees is a class act and will be hard to beat

For the most part its true though imo. Its the same with our middle distance 10F+ horses going to north america. Hence why Buccaletti is a good bet this weekend. Differences in breeding and what type of races are deemed important i would say. Id be surprised if neither of Kirlees or Cima was fighting out the finish tommoro.
Look how the reverse is true. The aussie/east asian 5F sprinters are the best in the world. Look at there record in the Kings Stand 5F at Royal Ascot over the last few years. The yanks tend to have better sprinters than us too and there 2 year olds are ahead with them being pushed early on. Just regional differences that can create great betting oppurtunities. I never ever find as much value anywhere other then on the foreign races and when you find a race to back a non local runner. The 20/1 shot that overturned Ghannatii the other week from france is another good example.

Wasnt looking like much of a difference on our runners to UK prices earlier on...Have to place bet couple mins before the off to get a true idea of SP.

You may be right - I guess my betting in Australia is scarred by backing too many Europeans in the Melbourne Cup, a 10F+ handicap where their record is pretty abysmal! Last year was obviously good in the Caulfield Cup but it hasn't been a handicap long enough for me to feel too confident about it.

Champs Elysees will win at Woodbine. Badly hampered in the Northern Dancer last time but still did well to finish close up. If things fall into place today should prove too good for the rest.

i will be going to the OTB today which is the new york betting place and backing buccaletti and lahaleeb win-place-show i think both can get in the first three.... there is already concerns about rainbow view expressed by the trainer so she is one to leave alone at short odds.... i think buccaletti will be between 8-1 to 12-1 over here and lahaleeb will be around 20-1

the more i look at the woodbine races i feel lahaleeb will go well she won the rockfel a year ago today so hopefully this is her time of year

Cant do it on Betfair but with Hills you certainly can. Ladbrookes i believe as well and some of the others for sure.
Sometimes tricky to find on there websites but with hills you go to US Racing and then select the track and race number. Then you have to bet either win, place or show. You should be able to find them and the interface will be obvious that you are making a pool bet as its abit like the tote pool interface you see with the bookies and betfair site.
BE WARNED PLACE MEANS FIRST TWO AND SHOW MEANS FIRST THREE. DONT GET CAUGHT OUT BACKING PLACE AND THEN YOUR HORSE FINISHES THIRD MEANING YOU WONT GET A PAYOUT.
WIll the prices be that different ? Lahalleb was higher with the books here than she was predicted on track early when i looked. I guess they shouldnt be any lower with the track tote so probs the way to go.

Yes I paid a heavy price doing this when I backed Stotsold 'place' in the Arlington Million by mistake
Buccelatti is 10/1 in Canada - bet of the season?
You can see why he isn't that fancied as on the form book his form doesn't look great but I think that a lot of people, myself included, just have a feeling that there is a really good horse in there somewhere. And 12f, small field etc. seems ideal. Getting right stuck in, win place and show. Have already backed him at 7/1 to win too which I wish I hadn't now

Could be. Im deciding whether to have a max each way bet or not. Surely he cant be out of the three ? I just cant see how that could happen with Balding being a US expert and sending him there. Surely a class UK middle distance runner is the one to be on in this field. I know nothing of the US horses but i know ours in general are much better over these kind of trips.

Going to blindly follow you in tony. Not followed Lahalleeb since the Guineas so not really got a clue but theres only 8 runners in the field and Channon wont have sent her for fun. Hes in form at the moment with his good horses. At the prices she is definetly a bet. Will do the exatca reversed with Rainbow View and an EW double with Bucalleti.

I'm seriously considering unleashing like never before on this one. I am CONVINCED he will win easily, and is more like a 2/1 shot than a 10/1 shot. I believe he has a far better chance than Jukebox Jury who is 3/1

Nice going guys. Finding winners running abroad can be the most profitable bet going. Confidential Lady was 44/1 on the PMU when winning the Frenc Oaks for Channon. years ago Mrs Penny was 40/1 on the US Tote when winning the Arlington Million and would have been more like 2/1 in the UK. It works in reverse, Subotica was 8/1 or so on the PMU when winning the Arc yet Mecca ( remember them ? ) were offering 16/1. To date that was biggest ever pay out on a single £100 at 16/1.

Anyone playing in Australia this weekend ? Mackinnon Stakes the big one (Melbuorne Cup on tuesday). Can Cima De Triuopmh be forgiven for that last run ? Tasty EW price if you think he is in with a good shout ?
Also the Group 1 in France on sunday for which Rosanara looks to be the best to my mind with british and irish radiers the main challengers.

Well the Melbourne Cup is run in the early hours of the morning our time.
I'm going for Roman Emperor trained by the ever green Bert Cummings. Warringah looks a good E/W bet at 25/1. He would have more weight if he was running in a handicap here. He is now trained in Oz & has a top jockey on in D Oliver.

Warringah is my play, also some decent stuff in France tomorrow.

Cest la Guerre and Mourilyan ew for me.

Im with Hampton. I think Roman Emperor looks like a gimme for a top 4 finish with an excellent win chance. 8/1 Here for a horse that will surely be shorter down under.
Of the other local contenders Viewed, Alcopop and MasterOReily appeal and i wouldnt like to completely rule out Cumani with Basiltico.

I have backed Viewed to win and Munsef and Mourilyan ew. Also done the 3 in a highly improbable CFC!
Just hope all return safe and sound

Gone with Munsef e/w as followed several of Ian Williams recent winners. taken Hampton's tips as well - Roman Emperor fits my second string theory!

Fiumicino is way over priced at around 50/1. I think he has a reasonable chance of getting placed in a very open race. He beat Viewed by 2 3/4 lengths at level weights in the spring, but was beaten the same distance in the Caulfield Cup. He also won the Australian Derby as a 3 year old leaving the field strung out on heavy going. I suggest a small E/w bet at big odds.

Alan i was just going to say similar things about this horse. Ive added him to the list of ones ive homed in on. Dafodil would be of interest as well but i think she picked up a niggly injury recently which would force you to ignore her ultimetly. I have no idea what price Fiumicino will go off at down under but 66/1 and 80s on betfair here look huge. He is a good profile fit. His only real negatives are being 6yo rather than the prefered 4yo/5yo and not getting the ideal draw in 7-14. Other than that he cant be faulted and ill agree. He is defenitely recomended to the board as at the very least a small ew back.
Ive not fully decided yet but at the moment i think it looks like ill probably be backing both Roman Emperor and Fiumicino each way with the exata for fun.
