First things first, please note that last year I returned from the pub on finals night and declared myself the winner. This was due to a mixture of Guinness and euphoria, sadly it was quickly quashed by that nosey parker TGS, who incidently was the real winner, once I was sober enough to amend the scores. This year, the judges ( MOI ) decision will be final.
Okay onto rules and boring stuff like that. The draw for the heats start at ten am tomorrow, with the first round taking place this week.
Entrants can pick six horse ( haha I meant dogs, you think I would be able to tell the difference since its my comp )
Six dogs with a stake of £200 per dog.
This can be either £200 win or £100 E/w.
Please take your prices from anyone listed on Oddschecker and write down the place terms for me.
Any non runners prior to the first round heats can be replaced.

anyone keeping up to date with this? i backed shaneboy lee at the start but haven't really been watching his progress. just on times, college causeway is looking special.
i've tickets for the final, but unfortunately won't be able to go as my team are now playing in the cup quarter finals that night.

I meant to update my article on this. College Causeway was again superb on Saturday, he is looking unstopable. Shaneboy Lee is drawn against him in the semis, their heat looks way harder than the other one though I still expect both to qualify. CC was antepost fav for last years Greyhound St Leger, his extra staying power combined with his strength seems to be getting him out of any trouble he finds, no one has come anywhere near his first round time.
Tyrur Giovanni went out after meeting trouble, he finished plum last. His blistering sectional time in the previous round shows he could be special if he breaks on a regular basis. Its a shame you cant make the final, it would have been a great evening.

Finals night tonight and I think College Causeway is the only selection left going. TGS will be happy as he will finish second in the competition, on account of results being in alphabetical order.
How good the 16/1 looks, when using hindsight. College has won all his heats and looks good value at evens tonight. I cant see anything beeting him on current form. Snap up the 5/4 with Ladbrokes, I am certain he will start odds on.

This is it guys, the results are in.
In third place, Shamardal, no points but a well deserved third for filling in the entry form.
In joint top, TGS and ASC who both picked College Causeway the outright winner, showing a healthy £2,200 return.

Thanks for running the competition alansouthcoast.

Question for alansouthcoast..
I dont know anything about dogs myself but a neighbour of mine owns belvedere champ who ran in the final last night..
Hes a young dog as far as i know and just wondering would he have a chance of competing well again next year..
Do greyhounds in general improve as they get older?
alansouthcoast
Dogs sometimes have a great first season, then fail to deliver the goods, just as two year old horses fail to improve. Belvedere Champ only started racing in March so for a first season he did well to reach the final. College Causeway didnt get this far last year, so that gives you an idea of how much they can improve.
