Is that Democracy ?

Well I thought I'd just ask the question, is the concept of using polls to make decisions worth it ?

The turn out for the last one was 5% (based on 23 votes out of 459 registered users) which by my reckoning is the worst set of voting figures I can recall for anything !!!

Now I know these decisions are few and far between but maybe we can learn a lesson for next time !!!

After putting at least 20 seconds worth of thought into it I've come up with a couple of alternatives :-

1. Forming a commitee, where a joint decision is made by the select few

2. Post count weighted voting, the more posts you've created the more say you have in decisions

3. One decision maker, who listens to all points of view and then has the final say

Anyone agree the process is currently flawed ? Can suggest alternatives ? Doesn't really care ?

TGS....

Point 1... We have a commitee called mods and admin, we decided that letting everyone have a say is the fairest way to do things.

Point 2.... Most mods and admin would be on this commeitte as well, partly as we have been here the longest and partly as we have so many additional posts due to being mods and admin.

Point 3.... Skanky will always have the overall say , if he chose to, as its his forum.

I do hear the points you make, but we cant force people to vote, so if you dont vote you get whatever is decided by those that do.
Much like the general elections.

I think Alan is right TGS.

Not sure what all this recent desire for change is about or where it is coming from, but I am well happy with the forum and think it runs fine and everything is where it should be.

Laissez-faire, that's me !!!
