Shelbourne park stages 3 days of heats for the first roun this week. Some 160 dogs have entered, so we look for an edge, hopefully i have found it. Only 26 dogs are seeded wide, and i am not sure if the grader can change this, as the competition procedes. This means that for the first few rounds at least, the wide runners should be guaranteed a clear round. Next we look at the wide runners fancied in the betting.
The first one few spotted are Midnight Blue,Wise Thought and Tyrur Kenny available at 33/1 or less. Next at 66/1 we have Kilkenny Lonjack and Advantage Johnny My first selection is one of these, due to being able to get 1,4 the odds 1,2 3,4. (Boylesports go first six)
It wont come as a suprise to anyone who reads this, that i am sticking with my old favourite Kilkenny Lonjack I just think of the first five wide runners, this one has as good a chance as any of going all the way. He run well for ages in the Wimbledon equivelant and also won the Wimbledon trial for this. Sunderland wasnt his kind of track and Shelbourne will be more to his liking. I am just convinced he will win a decent event sooner rather than later. He just needs to trap a bit sharper.
I must admit i dont know much about the first two in the market, although the highly rated Tyrur dogs include last years winner and runner up Tyrur Rhino and Tyrur Laurel Both have proved they run the track well, and laurel is still in top form. Kryptonite was well fancied for Wimbledon and ran with credit right the way through. Shelbourne Ashton has also got to be fancied, as have Ballymac Under and Loyal Honcho Honcho has had a slight injury though and was not certain to take part Droopys Deco and Express Ego could go well for a long way at big prices.
The best heat seems to be heat four, only 3 qualify and you have five railers including Fallons dog Bar The Devil, Kryptonite and Express Ego all running against each other. Ego was unlucky at Wimbledon and has been save for this competition, not having run since may. He is my outside pick.

Both with Boylesports 1/4 the odds all six places.
