Quiz Feedback Needed!!!We've been running the quiz pretty much as it is since March so I was hoping to get some feedback on the subjects we are using.
The subjects we're using at the minute are listed below - most have been used 10 or 11 times since March. With 20 plus subjects they turn up once every 3 weeks or so.
Animals
Celebrities: More Difficult
General Knowledge 4: Harder
General Knowledge 5: Difficult
General Knowledge 6: Very Difficult
Geography 2: Intermediate
Geography 3: Difficult
History 2: Intermediate
History 3: Difficult (Which isn't actually History but Humanities!!)
Hobbies
Literature 1: Easy
Literature 2: More difficult
Movies 2: Intermediate
Movies 3: Difficult
Music 2: Intermediate
Music 3: Difficult
People 2: More Difficult
Science & Nature 2: Intermediate
Science & Nature 3: Difficult
World: UK
World: Trivia: More Difficult
World: Europe
The options for change are either scrap a subject, cut down use of a subject or keep going as we are now.
If we decide to cut down use of a subject I'll use it half as often as we do now - That's pretty easy to do with the spreadsheet I've got on the go.
Please can I have some opinions - obviously if you don't comment and a favourite subject of yours is disliked by others then you might lose it so positive comments are more than welcome too!!
I've set the subjects until Friday so none of this feedback will be used until the weekend.
If anyone doesn't know what I'm going on about please take look at the Quiz thread on the Off Topic forum We need more players!

My own opinion is that the quiz is going fine.
We seem to get a good mix of tough and easy.
The average number of players is higher now since when we started.
It would be nice to get more but 18 to 20 is a lot more desirable than the 10 to 14 players we use to have.
I could be in a minority but if it was that bad, then we wouldnt have the numbers that we have playing now.
I am not too sure, but some forum members didnt take part as it was perceived to be a long winded registration when it is in fact so easy and takes less than a minute.
I would hate to see you losing sleep over this as i havent heard that many complaints and the incidents of the questions not being linked to the subject matter is laughable sometimes but i think that is more to do with the database the questions come from and not the subjects themselves.
I think you are doing a great job but dont try and make it too much of a chore for yourself as it is supposed to be a bit of fun and the odd bit of rivalry ie Geordie versus the rest of us

I like
Geography
History
Literature
Science and Nature
Hobbies
Animals
World: Trivia
World: UK
World: Europe
because I'm reasonably good at them!
I dislike
All the rest
because I'm rubbish at them!
Some of the questions are not related to the (supposed!) topic - but I guess that's just bad luck/an oddity of the system.
On balance, though, I'll take my chances as they come round at present!

I hate Movies
but that's because I am rubbish at getting the answers right!
I am struggling for something constructive to say. Pretty much I think the balance is right
Maybe we could have less GK and more wildcards...
I don't know, sorry I'm talking rubbish

I only really like two subjects, but am happy to leave as is.
Everyone will have their favourites, and the ones they hate, but thats all part of the challenge. You don't learn anything otherwise.

I think the phrase you are looking for FF (but more than likely too polite to use) is Put Up or Shut Up.

I find that the two M's, Music and Movies, are beyond me as I don't have a good memory for names nor do I listen to modern music. There will be times when they are old movies or older music so let's leave well enough alone. As regards moaning I don't moan, I make observations which can be misconstrued as moans but are mainly wind ups and cover ups for my inadequacies on these subjects. The one thing I would moan about, and do, is the fastest finger first, come on 10 in 36 and 38 seconds today must show how easy a subject is, I know I only got 9 but that could be down to trying to do things too quickly, it wasn't, but could have been. Seriously I love the quiz, especially yesterday when I was top, the first time for ages, so keep it going as is and ignore my "observations"

More a question as against feedback, if on the forum, when a poll is done, you can't be swayed by the vote so far as you don't see everything until you have made your vote. If the quiz worked on the same basis, then the element of surprise comes when you see how others have done.....after you have played, and not be influenced by high scores or quick speeds. I am prone to amnesia so we may have had the answer already and it can't be done.

The only person you're winding up is me - and as insanity is looming I don't suppose you'd give me a break - Please
Sorry - There's nothing to be done about hiding scores before you play - though I do agree it would be a good idea.

I will do my best, though in fairness the windups are for others, hardly ever you as I couldn't spare the time to be as committed as you. One final question, what is Shout Out for?, if not bragging, crying, moaning, observing or winding the players up.......tis all in good sport imo.

There is a good example, is that aimed at me, more than likely, or somebody else? I will accept the comment as being laid at my door, because Mach wouldn't accuse Vicky of moaning,

why wind up at all?
most other people comment on their own scores, not other people, not moaning about the subjects as being stupid or not hard enough or not easy enough
i always point out that I'm hopeless on celebs and movies. im glad that others are good at them, I'm not thats not the subjects fault, it's mine
just stop the moaning.

if you cant find anything nice to say dont say anything at all.

Now you are moaning about me moaning, not much difference, but if all broad, not selective, subjects, were hard then I have no problem with that. There is a theme in my moaning, specialist subjects and fastest finger first. If I didn't like the quiz or the comments on Shout Out, then you would have nothing to chastise me for, you like being selective on certain forumites, and reserving barbed comments for them, that is what the forum is about, but I think it is 30 all on your way of doing things and mine. Your serve.

I'd say keep it as it is... some sets you know the answers to and some you don't! The only strangeness is when you get a topic and none of the questions are about that but there is nothing you can do about that and its the same for everyone!

A self confessed WUM - we've never had one of them before. You must be so proud!
Well done you got me - I was worried about the quiz but not now. I know you've got no valid complaints so I'll ignore your Shout Out comments quite happily from now on.
You do know the story of the boy that cried wolf don't you - How will anyone know when to take anything you say seriously?

Today's quiz has spoilt my day of having bragging rights with MTV, I got more than him but on seeing which ones he got wrong, after we had both done the quiz, we found that he had different questions, which were harder. Is this done every day, different questions to different folks?, not a level playing field, but if it is possible can I have the easier sets of questions please. My theory is that as he plays it so early he had yesterdays World : UK questions, before they were cleared, only a theory.

Best guess at the minute is "a glitch"!!! It's set so everyone gets the same questions. I attempted the quiz just after MT jnr today and got the same questions as papa who played a bit later Don't really know what happened just keeping an eye on it for a while.
