RIP David ShepherdOne of the best umpires ever.
I know it should really be on the cricket thread but thought he was well known enough to get a mention on here.
Used to love his little dance whenever the score was 111, 222, 333 etc

Very sad,a fine umpire and a credit to cricket.
Greatly missed.

i wonder how many times he and Dickie stood together. Dickie was and is more in the public eye because of his character but shep was his equal as an umpire.
In the days when the home team provided the umpires there was never a question of bias with either them.

RIP Shep, your first test match was in the fourth Test of the 1985 Ashes series at Old Trafford. Standing with you in this test was your old friend Dickie Bird.
just like you on 111,222,333 etc.
