Saturday 24 October

What a great day's racing at Chepstow... some really exciting stuff on view. Aiteen Thirtythree in the opening hurdle. I really like Bakbenscher, who takes on a host of others including the Nicholls pair Elusive Dream and Alfie Sherrin in the Silver Trophy and then Meanus Dandy kicks off in the 3m novice chase. Been waiting over a year for this one to go chasing. Could be an excellent day for Nicholls and Ruby.

Then of course there's the Old Roan Chase over at Aintree!

And some flat stuff
Owl of Minerva

Looks a tricky day tomorrow

Won't be getting overly involved but I will chance KFF in the Old Roan at around 13/2. Has a great record fresh. Tartak feared most.

I think the top 3 in the market will dominate the RP Trophy and if I had to pick one to come out on top it would be Elusive Pimpernel @ 4/1. His form last time is very good and he looks certain to improve over a straight mile on easier ground

Guys,

I know one of the boys who owns a share in the Hollow Bottom and one of my other mates was chatting to him yesterday and he said they quietly fancy it.
This meeting, last year I was at chepston and he said the same about it then and it won at aintree at 13/2 i think it was?
The horse has won 3 races, 2 of them at aintree at the meeting tomorrow in the last 2 years so obviously likes it round there and this time of year and first time out seems best time to catch him.

Lets hope its third time lucky tomorrow!
Hampton

I think Thumbs Up has a very good chance in the 1.05 at Aintree. I fancy Kicks For Free in the 2.15 &  Chesapeake in the 2.50.

I too like Bakbenscher but a big danger may come from El Dancer who looks an improving sort.

At Newbury I think All The Aces has a very good chance now the ground has eased somewhat.

Gone for Al Zir in the RPT as he's prove on softish ground.

Surely the signs are there, no pacemaker in the Racing Post Trophy, St Nicholas Abbey a good thing?

Looks like you're talking yourself into something here Sham. Best.

My play today is Tartak.

G'luck.

Sandown_Stan

Tartak 1415 Aintree
The Hollow Bottom 1600 Ainree
Tritonville Lodge 1515 Stratford

singles and a small trixie
FallonFacta

I nearly went to Donny today - but decided to stay where it was warm and dry

I'm with far too many today - Fallon and Moore and main bets with Ruby at Chepstow - I really hope they all have a good day!

I can't decide on a NAP for the comp - Co-ordinated Cut would be the one I want to win most but the competition is huge.  Namibian Orator - being backed.  Harbinger - I'm sure will improve on last time.  Aiteen Thirty Three - I love a bit of hype.  Nina on Arabella Boy - she's always to be trusted.  I might wait 'till tomorrow!

455pm Newbury Rainbow Peak 2/1 EW

To add to my St Nicholas Abbey bet, I agree with a lot of people that Tartak looks like the one to beat in the Old Roan. Also think Judge n Jury has a very big chance in the big sprint today. 3 singles and also put those 3 in a lucky 15 with Harbinger

Im just reading between the lines
Gorg_George

2-05 NB Iver Bridge Lad @ 10/1 e/w. Taking a chance this one will stay the exttra distance as he looks a quality animal, the price is too tempting.

2-20 Equuleus Pictor @ 20/1 e/w. Seems to be coming back to form and conditions are perfect.

3-30 Coordinated Cut @ 9/1 e/w. Don't think this looks a strong renewal and this horse could improve enough to take this with Fallon to get him home.

3-45 Pipette @ 8/1 e/w. Really liked the look of this filly on debut and thought she'd step up to this level and looks a very interesting contender.

4-40 Advanced @ 11/1 e/w. Ultra-consistent and conditions look perfect for a bold show.

4-55 NAP Rainbow Peak @ 2/1. My main bet of the day, looks a class animal and should be capable of taking this with some in hand, looks a massive price to me.
FallonFacta

Looks like Ruby got to 10 stone
YAIYAM

I am hoping Amber Brook can use his staying power in this 1:55 to at least make a place

newyorktony

i have had a bad start to the day i hope it starts to improve.....
Sandown_Stan

tartak will win nothing more until he learns to jump!!!
well done Monets Garden though!!!
kickingkyle

Didnt even realise Monets garden was running, def one of my fav horses, hardly touched a twig the whole way!
david-uk

BRETT

Yes, it was lovely to see him bound away there.

Tartak.. ouch.
three out

Well done Monet's - blast from the past there.  I thought Tidal Bay put up a good performance and looks to be able to put last season behind him - better ground will help him and could be a threat in other big races.

Claire B said afterwards TB was "distressed" and was having lots of water chucked at him.

They seem to be unusually disappointing today; he doesn't seem to have had a fitness problem up til now? Though admittedly Pride of Dulcote and Tatiano didn't have much to beat.
david-uk

That High Heeled looks like she follows Turtle Island when the ground gets soft, hosed up.
BRETT

Corporal Maddox looks a bangin' e/w bet to nothing in the 2.55.Should like the ground and will definately stay.Cant say the same for Citrus Star

Just nipped out from work to get some lunch to clear this hangover, stuck my shrapnel on High Healed while eating and it seems to have gone
theGoingStick

That finishing line at Doncaster looks very deceptive, if it's a close finish in the RP trophy there could be carnage on betfair.
david-uk

What a toughie that Laylas is, if you think about it he was riiden after a furlong and a half.

To my relief Five Dream's just won - Looked like a two horse race as I only saw the end - not sure what happened to the other two

Maybe it's Ruby

Murtagh took a while to get the Coolmore standard line out there, "he has a lot of speed and all the options are open to him"

PR for me in the 3:40 @ Wexford

Taken the 5s for the 2000G, they will want to get the limelight back on them after Sea the Stars.

Have you got the right race there, I can't see that horse on betfair ?

Coolmore don't tend to go that route with their horses though, Guineas then the Derby, it's usually a Derby trial and then the Derby. Having said that if he did turn up for the guineas at the moment that looks a decent price from what I've seen from the 2yo's this year.

I finished just a little better than evens, but only after topping up on St Nicholas Abbey, without him it would have been a pretty bad day

My children have "kindly" passed their colds/flu onto me and I feel awful but it is in no way to blame for the lousy losing day I've had.

Off to bed soon for an extra hours sleep and to dream of making a fortune tomorrow.
