Sir Alex FergusonHas Sir Alex Ferguson gone too far with his latest comments about referees?

You have to respect the man for all he has achieved but i get the feeling he just says these things just like other managers do. To take the heat away from his team and keep the pressure off.
At the end of the day his team managed to scrape a draw at home to Sunderland! No offense to Black cats fans but what about the fact that United failed to win a potentially simple 3 points at home.
A fine will not hurt him either as i don't suppose he is short of a few quid!

He does seem to have gone overboard this season. So much for the respect campaign.

all managers seem to think that a mistake by a referee isa heinous act which warrants dismissal but a misytake by them or one of their players should be overlooked as one of those tings.
they also all think the 4th official is there ot argue with and shout out; the managers have no "right" to speak to the 4th official. they should e told to sit down and shut up or get sent off
Wenger being sent to thestands for kicking a water bottle when fergusson and others rant at the 4th official is typical of the misguided priorities of the PL and others

I think I'm probably genuinely neutral on this one. I saw the footage of Sir Alex ranting at an official on Match of the Day, and thought it most unpleasant. I can understand managers getting upset if a difficult decision goes against them, and I also understand about taking the heat off players, who are usually too emotionally uneducated to behave in a normal decent way when required!
But raving at an official who is only doing his job (even if incompetently) is wrong. If there's a problem with an official, raise it through official channels later.

I think he has gone too far here personally. To say the ref is not fit enough is pretty low IMHO. I hope he gets the book thrown at him, trouble is the book is like a Mills and Boon when I wish it were the Encyclopedia Britannica.
What I would really like is for Keith Hackett to come on Sky Sports and say: -
Owen is not fit enough to be a premier league striker
Foster is too 'Flappy' to be a premier league keeper
Scholes is not able to tackle well enough to be a premier league midfielder
On a side not we (Sunderland) did a number on Manchester United on Saturday - deserved to win the game in my unbiased view. I know people think Man U were poor, and sure they can be much better, but they were poor in large parts because we made them so. Our centre midfield two, when they play like that, will cause most opposition midfields problems. Our strikers too occupy a full back line to the extent that full backs dare not attack as much. We aren't going to challenge for europe but I bet Fergie wishes he had played the likes of Giggs and Ferdinand. The fact they got a point says much about the mentality of that entire club and why they are still the team to beat this season IMHO.

I'm just waiting for an opportune moment to bump all the crazy comments about Darren Bent from a few months ago.

The boy is on fire and is playing well in all round terms too. I think he is close to exceeding expectations of some already

Anyone remember ref Roger Kirkpatrick ,cost us the league in 1972 when he disallowed John Toshacks last minute equaliser .
Now he was a porker but was a top ref from 1966/1979.

i think what cost you the league was derby county and leeds united finishing above you
given that in that era referees gave penalties at the kop end if a visiting defender sneezed that has to be one of the daftest post of the year.

£20000 fine.
4 match touchline ban (2 of them suspended)
Yet again he gets away with it.
If that had been a manager of any other club or basically anyone outside Sir Alex they would have got a lot more.
Absolute disgrace and a massive cop out.
