Long overdue.
I've never been a Faldo fan in fact quite the opposite, however if you accept that sportmen & women get knighted then Faldo should've been recognised before now.

well IF you have an honourrs system and IF you dish out gongs for sporting achivement
6 majors - how far do you have to go back to find another UK Golfer with 4? PLUS world no1 in golf for god knows how long it was
should have made him a shoo-in for a knighthood
the best golfer the UK has ever produced IMHO; his Open win with 18 straight pars was my favourite, even better than his physical and mental destruction of Norman (and all the others to a lesser degree) in the Masters;
Great, great golfer and a bit of a hero of mine.

Always though that the 18 pars at Muirfield in 87 was over-rated. He actually needed birdies that day to come from behind he just couldn't make them. Azinger then choked at the last 2 to hand the title to Faldo.
-17 after 3 rounds at St.Andrews in 1990, now that was impressive or when he came back to Muirfield in 1992 he shot 130 for first 2 rounds. Or how about his 65 on the Sunday he caught Scott Choke at the masters?
Faldo had shot 77 in round 3.
Another way to look at Faldo's 6 majors....well this is the 50th major since he won his last. There's only been British 1 winner since...Paul Lawire.
Time for Casey and co to step up.
