Problem is surgery procedure is very painfull and takes weeks to recover ,so many people decide not to go through with it .they cannot take the time off work or their health is too fragile to have surgery.in some cases the surgery does not work.
There are some over the counter products but a lot of people find them useless.
Merseyside doctors are now pioneering a £3 injection which can stop snoring.
Consultants at Ormskirk hospital are the only team in Britain to offer the procedure called the snoreplasty and its proving an efective alternative to painful surgery.
Hadi-Al Jassim ,the consultant ear ,nose and throat surgeon ,carrying out the treatment is now giving lectures to other doctors accross the country.
The two minute procedure is now done under local anaesthic and invlolves injecting chemicals into the roof of the mouth .
This stops the soft tissue at the back of the mouth vibrating ,the main cause of snoring.
So far Mr Al-Jassim has treated 400 patients in his clinic at Ormskirk Hospital.
Could be £3 well spent!
